They're not, i'm not sure where that came from. I maxed encase and distortion, and spread the rest of the 20 pts. Spike damage > dots in pvp in nearly every situation in pvp.

In group vs group pvp, single target DoTs are near useless, in 1v1 they will make or break you against a worthy opponent. I specced for pvp just like my raid hastenings line, maxed all but Pyre and Acid for the reduced reuse timers, since Acid and Pyre are both being overwritten before they wear off, a reduced cast time isn't all too important.

I didn't say they were useless, and you can see from my post on page 1 that apoc is obviously the exception to the rule. The pyre line is generally the last spell i cast (if at all) in a pvp fight unless it's against a class that can heal or i need the range. Scourge line is good to get out there, but i wouldn't prioritize either in a pvp aa spec, which is why i suggest to max Encase and Distortion first.

No, enhanced Magi's Shielding is great, its a ward against ALL damage, and if you are damaged and running away, the ward will heal you over and over.

If i had to chose, leveling from scratch, i would max Magi's Shielding, then go hastenings for the QC ability, then get Manashield. Manashield is great, but when you are low level, that mana can disappear quickly, and you aren't killing anything with no mana.
