In tier 7 I was almost always a contender for the highest parse on single targets in raid zones with the rangers being the most difficult to top. Since this last expansion in tier 8 raid zones I find myself always trailing the scouts by any where from a 1000 to 2000, all scouts! I am usually close to what wizards in the raids are parsing. My gear is decent without being uber since our raids have not progressed past the tier 2 level and not having any dps masters other then the master ii on absolution. So my question is what is the problem or do we have to settle for being 5 to 8 places down on parses? Does our dps get better as you move further along in the raid zones in comparison to scouts or are we just no longer a major contendor for the top parse?

There is no question that times have changed and what was best for a warlock prior to the last expansion no longer works. It would really be nice if someone that has figured out how to parse like a warlock should be able to parse could share the information. For me the real satisfaction always came from the mages in a mage group being able to take the top spots away from the scouts be it myself or another mage in the group.

If you are far below or above these numbers that can be based on a number of things:

Mob you are killing, lag, raid setup, tank aggro ability, player application of debuffs etc.


Easiest thing to worry about is to hit lvl 80, boom easy.

After that, make sure your aa's are in the right places (tons o info on that) STR AGI WIS, Hastenings Prop Explosives... having 140aa is nice for warlock, so many good aa choices.

Next, Make sure all your spells are adept 3.

Next, Get all gear that is purchasable or easily obtained with single group.

While gettn the heroic gear buy all your masters.


EVERYTHING SO FAR CAN BE DONE BY ANYONE IN GAME REGUARDLESS OF GUILD.


At this point, as a warlock, you can be doing 3500 dps single target, 5500 with illu/troub.


Next... pinpoint the raid gear that you can obtain (if you are a t1/t2 guild)

This means your guild should be killing Master P in SoH which means you can get his hat.

Now you can do 4000 dps single target, 6000 with illu/troub

Next... pinpoint raid gear thru VP (no avatars/trak/byzola)

This means that you can kill thru Maestro in SoH which means you can get the charms from both the sisters and maestro over time.

Now you can do 5000 dps single target, 7000 with illu/troub

Next... pinpoint gear from trak, byzola, tangrin and avatars

This means you can kill anything in game and have the best possible setup and assumes 100% mastered lvl 80/140.

I havn't seen this point but with what i've seen from gear, the dmg at this point should be in the range of:

6500dps single target, 8500 with illu/troub

Remember, all these numbers are generalized and are more geared to suggest that certain effort and character upgrades will boost you bit by bit... and substantially if you attain certain items.

My goal for the end of this expansion is to run anywhere from 8k-10k single target dps on burn fights.

I think 500 plus would be the addition for me with troub/ill big difference there. I don't get jesters cap often but do get tc as a rule.

NICE!! tc AND a troub in the group.. my Illy and troub is on a hiatus and we recently invited a new troub into the guild, so hopefully i'll be hitting the marks. One thing i want to add is make sure you try to get as many cast/reuse/base as you can.. my issues is that my cast isn't where i want it though it is close to cap on some spells due to aa's. Anyway.. my 2cp. OH and as far as TC is concerned.. eh.. i try to do what i can without and do fairly well imo. Strive for 8 - 10% of the total dps of the raid. THAT should be more attainable than trying for numbers and dieing all the time.

meh, my numbers were done on the run, but TC is about 400-500dps bump for me and troub is prolly 800-1000... i'll admit 2000 was pushing it, but the numbers are really designed for a wide range of group player skill.

Looking forward to seeing both of your posts. Right now I am struggling in the 3000s in tier one and two. Hitting 5000 would be awesome and would put me with the scouts in the raid as far as their dps. I looked up Abmodiable's aas and went ahead and duplicated them while also checking gear to see how far away I was. Also making some adjustment to the spell casting order taking in weechoo's advice into consideration. We have a lot of very good scouts in our raids that know there class well it will be a real challenge to stay with them in dps.

With no lag, the appropriate buffs and some SoH pieces and the trakanon belt, yes i agree 8-8.5K single target is what optimal warlock single target dps should be on single targets.
