For raids I'd say Warlock > Wizard...don't listen to Udoaka, he's just bitter because he betrayed Wiz to Lock for a guild right before it broke up ^_^

Wizards might have a slight advantage in that they do a tiny bit more single-target dps than a warlock, but the wizard single-target advantage has dropped heavily from EoF days. And while wizards may do a tiny bit more single-target, the warlock will dish out a large amount more on multiple-target fights.

However, if you're just interested in solo/grouping...wiz is probably better. Snare+burst ranged dps ftw there. There are much more grouped encounters in ROK raids than in ROK solo/group content.

I have an 80 wizard and an 80 warlock and much prefer the warlock over the wizard even for soloing. Being able to telaport a mob off of you rocks, when it works, which is most of the time.

As for raids my favorite is also the warlock and I seldom see any wizards parse higher than my warlock. But to be good you have to really learn either class be it a wizard or warlock. There are so many wizards on the servers now that it is not as easy to get a raid spot as it is for warlock.

You've pretty much hit my point there. I recon that it's up to more than just bashing the keyboard with your forehead to be a good dps, any class. That's actually why I don't want to betray at some point but start a class from day-0 and stick to it, suffer with it, learn it, and love it.

I'm the kind of guy who dies a hundred times just to find out that moving spell X two places up the spell rotation queue makes me do 2dps more. And the one who spends *ages* browsing, googling, comparing, and staring at parses, just to make sure I'm squeezing my toon 110%. I have ACT always on. Even when soloing. Even when *harvesting* lol!

I was really just wondering if there is any kind of undesirability for warlocks. Like wiz > lock, no matter what. That's not the case, as it seems, and locks have my love, even if it's just for the motif.

The only problem might be group thingy, as I play on a really small server

Honestly, A Skilled Wizard and Warlock under the same conditions (Buffs, Gear, Etc.) The Wizard will out parse the Warlock.

Well our wizard is slightly better geared then me and I would say is comparably skilled. In mage group with him having TC (because our mage group illy doesnt like warlocks) he is hard pressed to out dps me and zonewide we come in tied so I respectfully disagree with Udoaka

Yeah maybe when fighting ONE mob.

Neither of these statements are true:
Wizard > Warlock
Warlock > Wizard

It all depends on the player, gear, atmosphere, group make up, etc. There are tons of factors that can say one is better than the other. It all depends on the situation.

I personally think a Warlock is more fun to play than a Wizard.

The Wizard in my guild is equally good at his class, as I am mine. And yes, he generally out parses me on single targer fights, by only 1-200 at most though. When you start adding more mobs into the equation, my dps will sky rocket where his will only jump a slight bit.

So once again neither class is better than the other.

We're not comparing situations, we're comparing classes. All the rest is assumed to be equal when comparing classes.

Leveling up a warlock (pre-RoK) was definitely a blast. Killing groups of heroic mobs by yourself in a few seconds is great if you're into that kind of thing.

Running neck and neck with wizards on single targets isn't a hard thing to do if you know what you're doing.
