I get a tell 5 sec before hand. Problem is at times either im out of range of it or i get hit with the damn aoe/agro just before it goes off wondering if either the wizzy died (normally she does) or she decieded not to cast it. Honestly not a big deal to me. Just under 100 -300 dps with a myth'd wizzy (i dont have mine) 98% of the time with deaths doesn't bother me in the least.

Been meaning to look this up sometime. Anyone know the base damage for Rays (at any given INT you feel like without any +SD or base dmg)? Does it use the wizards stats or the caster's stats?

If it uses the casters stats, I suppose I can just find it on the broker and figure it from the tooltip...

Cast time should be accurate, but again, is it modified by the caster's cast haste, the castee's cast haste, or is it a static amount that's not modifiable?

No recovery time on rays either, eh? Learn something new every day...

It's based on your stats/mods, not the wizzy's.

Yeah, posting and working while getting interupted doesn't mesh to well. Basicly stating that i dont have issues with my parse being lowered due to RoD if it goes off at the 5 sec mark. I have issues when either it doesn't go off after the 5 sec either due to the wizzy dieing or whatever.

Good tip:

If the wizard in your group is dead, you can safely assume RoD is not inc

Ok, RoD uses only 1/3 SD, so they treat it like an AoE or Reactive. Based on another thread it uses the individual mage's cast haste, etc. too.

But all I can find on the cast time is a guess of 4 seconds (base). Anyone know? That sounds about right from being the castee in-game.

EDIT: If you assume 4s cast time with no recovery, and say it didn't interrupt any other spells (best case), it would be roughly the dps of Distortion, or a bit higher (both M1), but if, on average, it interrupted a spell and you lost 1 second of cast-time, it would drop down to about the dps of Encase/Upheval(single-target).

which is why it sucks if no warning given

if it falls in the bulk of our spell rotation w/ no warning it can be a dps killer, but if used right, can boost dps nicely.

I was thinking about this... What happens if a wizard casts rays while I'm in the middle of recovery period from another spell?

Does it shortcut the recovery and immediately start casting? If so it could potentially have up to 0.5 s less casting time... That would put it a little better than halfway from Distortion to Armageddon (single target without +30% from mythical).

So, if the base is actually 4 s, and it can cut recovery short, it's decent as long as warning is given, just exactly what you'll get from it will vary.
