I did some magic kung fu to get into the warlock AAs today and I have been very impressed with the performance of acid and plaguebringer so far. Especially acid though, with the exponential ticks and an extra tick thrown in from a troubie I was getting some serious DPS out of keeping it ticking. And with the reduced duration keeping it ticking fills out a substantial part of your order so that you don't have to dump off into shitty spells as much.

Can't wait to play around with it more and see what works out though!

As for people that were wishing we got the wizard one instead of plaguebringer, the thing is we are already pretty damn good at AEs. Maybe not PBAEs as much but they seem to be getting wise with making most add waves and such encounter-based. We really really do not need improvements on our ability to zap encounters. Plaguebringer is unimaginative but it's a solid addition from my limited testing so far.

Acid = pwn now

was running 8-11% dps now

fast cast (lots o procs)

low aggro

unresistable

big efficiency

one of our best spells now... hmm, makes me think about gettn it m2 again, tho, there are a ton of encounters for absolution, and the boost on absolution is bigger (also helps resistability on it)

The multiple different, stackable, percent based boosts to Absolution would still make me want to keep it M2 to keep it from being resisted more than it already is getting.

Welp my thinking is when it comes down to it acid and plaguebringer are things that shoehorn the warlock better into their nonspecialty area, but absolution is directly related to the bread and butter. Plus it's not a slouch in the single target department either, especially with the buffs it gets this expansion.

Fast casting abilities, rapid fire procing of 100% procs. Absolution not gettn as much use as it used to with the addition of poison mastery, thunderclap and bewilderment

I'm with Saltaf, but with RoK being virtually 100% single target, I went with Acid from the start. It's only a 3% base damage difference between M1 and M2, so probably they are close enough it's not worth switching from one to the other, whichever one you have, since you lose the 3% on one to give it to the other.

Bonus to getting acid if you are a new T8 warlock is that Absolution masters are much easier to come by cheap since the 'rule' was that you always M2 Absolution and master acid. I've only seen 1 acid master on the broker and never seen one drop myself, but bought Absolution M1 for like 20 plat a long time ago

I'm pretty sure I'd get a bit more DPS out of master II acid on single targets, it's definitely slipped up above absolution for me, but I rolled the lock to blow up groups and that's just the way I gotta roll hehe. If I didn't have an acid master though I'd pick up a cheap absolution and get acid master II the way things are now.

I think the base damage on the set is going to make absolution an absolute terror of an AE spell and maybe even move it up on my single target casting order too. Suppose it'll be a while before I see a chest though :P

absolution pwns for single target shit esp with high base dmg. you can get up to 80% base dmg for that spell alone with gear aa and items. kinda rocks to get see it kick in for 25k + regularly on single targets.

I don't know about pwnage, but it's certainly worth casting these days - at the bottom of the order for all us up-and-comers, and a regular part of the order for those with the new gear.

Here's the DPS efficiencies I've figured for a few spells compared to Absolution (figured at 100% crit, 75% haste, 40% recovery, 1000 +SD, 30% base, 10% crit mod, and all warlock mythical effects, all M1, and does not factor in procs...):

9314 Armageddon (single target)
7475 Armageddon (mythical clickie off)
5199 Distortion
5105 Absolution (M2 w/ 30% base dmg gear and all AAs)
5104 Flames of Velious
4993 Master Strike
4973 Absolution (M1, +30% gear and all AAs)
4799 Absolution (M2, +15% gear and all AAa)
4677 Absolution (M1, +15% gear and all AAa)
4461 Vacuum Chamber
4449 Encase
4495 Absolution (M2, all AAa)
4381 Absolution (M1, all AAa)
4079 Absolution (M2, no warlock line TSO AAs)
3977 Absolution (M1, no warlock line TSO AAs)

3880 Uphevel (single target)
3556 Cataclysm (single target)
3402 Absolution (M2, all AAa - mythical clickie off)

Basically, it catches up with Encase and Vacuum Chamber when you have all your TSO warlock AAs, and if you have the 4-set and robe from TSO it bumps it up to essentially tie with Distortion and Flames of Velious. Of course, once you add in procs, the shorter cast spells will get a bit of a boost compared with Absolution, but it certainly should be a standard if you have the mythical clickie on. With the clickie off (or no mythical yet) - still best to cast everything else (other than dissolve) first...
