Wizzy, Looking over the fence
I have just reached my second toon, a wiz to 80, and i wat thinking about betraying. I love the DoTs of the warlock, the RP value, and the encounter shit.
I don't like the fact that I've yet to meet a good one. That is to say, in 95% of encounters, group target included, in MY expiereince, wizzys are better...But this can't possibly be true...
Can I get some opinions??
Not gay ones like"WIZ RR teh SUCK B37ray!!!!"
Just an honest opinion, with a little class.
Thanks, everyone!!

Re: Wizzy, Looking over the fence
Equal geared wiz and warlock in same group... lets say wiz has TC and warlock has (troub's) tempo. Single target the wizard should do slightly higher dps than warlock. Maybe in the range of 1-2k more. On group of two they should be similar dps, 3 the warlock pulls ahead.
On end-game encounters if you have a solid wizard and a solid warlock, when you split things up, you might see a wizard be told to stay on the named and burn while lettn off pbaoes on adds, while the warlock is the primary dps on add sets full burning them, maybe in group with a paladin and plays a major source of aggro for the offtank. It is more moving around and manuvering to maximize encounter dps.
Personally I think warlock is much more fun and it has a LOT more potential.
but... that would be my opinion.

Re: Wizzy, Looking over the fence
Thanks!! I'm looking more seriously at betraying, now, and I think 'lock is the way to go...So I'm looking at getting my 103 gathering up for the fabled epic....
Question. How about in Instances? I know there's not really a hate transfer, but do you end up dropping a lot?

Re: Wizzy, Looking over the fence
hehe- One other question if you have time. I plan on raiding, of course, but it'll be a while b4 i get a spot in a good raid guild(I'm on Najena, folks!!).
My question is which would be considered a better instance runner? I assume warlock, lol

Re: Wizzy, Looking over the fence
Soloing: Big advantage to Wizard. They're better set up for root-n-nuke, plus they have evac, snare.
XP grinding: Big advantage to Warlock. If you want to grind XP the old fashioned way, AEing huge groups in contested zones is more efficient that blowing through one mob at a time.
Instances: Small advantage to Wizard. Warlocks rely heavily upon dots, and if you're in a good group they'll rarely last the full duration. Wizards have more up-front dmg spells.
Encounters with 3+ mobs: Moderate advantage to Warlock. Assuming the fight lasts longer than 20sec the Warlock has many more AE options than the Wizard. (Although don't get me wrong, Fission > Upheaval)
Encounters with 1 mob: Small advantage to Wizard. But very small, like less than 5%.
Desirability in raid mage group: Small advantage to Wizard. Ice Lash and Rays > Props
Desirability in other raid groups: Small advantage to Warlock. Better amends target, props is actually useful for non-magicDPS types.
Warlocks have more of a problem learning how to control their aggro, but it can be done. Wizards have more of a problem getting spells upgrades because there's a bajillion of them, but with enough plat it can be done.
So basically, as far as looking for a group or raid spot goes...your chances of getting to either are pretty much the same no matter which class you are. It's more about skill and gear.

Re: Wizzy, Looking over the fence
I thought that the new AA's on both sides made Warlocks gimp compared to wizards though....

I don't think it is really true, their aa's aren't bad. Just not as good as ours And with troubs new buffs warlocks get a really good boost in dps, more than from TC.

Re: Wizzy, Looking over the fence
So I'll just roll a warlock...Damn- I need more fucking slots.
Side rant: Whenever I say this, the response ALWAYS is well, get ACCESS.
I dont want access. I just want the slots. I would pay 5$ a month for 5 extra slots...what gives?
