just curious...what is the point of showing a harder to see pic of the gear that i already have in the original post....and the boon change was already known afaik

Depends on your gear.

As I'm getting more and more gear with crit, base damage, cast haste, and procs, I'm seeing my +SD go down as my dps is going up. For example, the void pants from trash in poao are better than the void shard pants, but have more crit and less SD. The talisman of the ethernauts swaps out an earring that has 75 SD and it has none, when I'm wearing the choker. I'm down from a high of around 850-900 SD to about 650 in raid now, and buffed over 100 crit now.

Meanwhile as base damage rises, the marginal gain from base damage will continue to decline and the value of +SD will continue to go up (as base damage raises all the +SD caps).

With 100 crit and 600 +SD, the swap rate is about 15 SD for 1 crit. Roughly 2 crit is a base damage. That puts 100 SD at about 7 crit value or about 3.5 base damage.

Closer than you would think, and if you are over 50% base damage, the 1 base +100 SD might get the nod.

But it's totally gear dependent. If you're over 1000 SD, where the SD to crit ratio is more like 25:1, the 5 base should win out just about no matter what.

100 SD is about equivilent to 4 crit not 7.....its about 23-25 SD=1 spell crit

so according to your theory...it would be more about 2 base damage equivalant.....so again as i said 5 and 7 set bonus need to be swapped.

Average is 23-25... changes based on your gear.

If you are 100% crit and 600 SD, it's about 15:1
If you are 50% crit and 1000 SD, it's about 30:1

I've slipped to almost 600 SD myself - while posting my highest ever parses. I'd love an extra 100 SD at the moment.

ouch dak thats harsh lol. and theres a problem with the spell dmg vs crit vs base dmg arguements, dmg procs. what crit/sd/base are u gaining/giving up while losing/gaining a good dmg proc. to me this expansion has started to majorly re-emphasize the potential of dmg procs like eof did and rok started to drop. greater void bane was the #1 dps for our conj in palace on trash, consisting of 12% of his dps. u factor in some of the avatar procs like spirit wrist and the robe proc, on top of byzola, greater void bane, all of the spell temp procs and god knows what else im missing; on top of the proc increasing gear such as bertox charm. its okay to give up some crit and spell dmg when ur getting all of these dmg procs going that outweigh it quite possibly. atm im on 98 spell crit and 895 spell dmg and imo the biggest differences in my parses are proc dmg. my big parses are made by how much my shit procs and how lucky i am on lag.

Not missing procs at all, there was no question of swapping out something for procs.

Base damage and spell crit bonus are about 0.6-0.7% dps boost for each 1% added
Crit% is about 0.33-0.37% dps boost for each crit added
SD you can figure from crit and changes the most based on gear

Just look at your ZW averages and figure what % of damage your individual procs are doing and you can convert them easy enough.

Like Praetors does around 1% damage, so it's equal to roughly 3% crit or 1.5% base damage. Give or take. Back of the napkin calcs. Add whatever other disclaimers you need here, etc.

i havn't used praetors in ages lol i have no idea what kind of dps it does. and the pt iw as making was u can drop both crit/spell dmg and some base for procs at times and come out better pending on what ur giving up and what ur gaining. there are so many encounters that will let u tailor certain gear to them in tso that there is no set formula. if u really want to optimize ur dps, until u get EVERYTHING u want, u'll never have the same gear on for every mob. bc u'll have to swap out stuff on dif names/trash etc to get the most dps possible imo. u'd have to break down dps and dif gear options on a lot of dif trash and names. cuz greater void bane > palace, fact. and on avatars you're better off to have ring of blood and rage then pof ring. also single vs grp for najenas ring etc. so many options!

edit: also grp setup can play a big role in wanting to change gear :P i just dont get how poeple are so caught up in a 2 crit = 45 spell dmg etc formula or whatever when there are so many variables it chagnes based on so many dif circumstances /shrug. you know good gear when us ee it, hopefully, pick the non shit stuff and dont bother with formulas unless ur looking at a specific encounter imo
