Default RoK, Epic Weapons, and Warlocks...

First let us culminate on the greatness of the quests that originated these weapons in Everquest 1.

These quests were time consuming, difficult, and you HAD to raid to even be worthy of holding them. When Verant (now SoE) released this content back in 2000-2001, they stated that only 1% of the populated servers will ever hold these weapons of power, let alone be deemed worthy to look upon them. However, times have changed, games and communities have evolved.

Let's digress and take a look at the pure-caster versions of the items, and how they evolved throughout the course of Everquest 1. Starting with our wizard brothers.

Wizard


Barrier of Force - 769 HP Rune + Increase Mana Regeneration by 3/tick

As more expansions were released, this epic quest line evolved into the Staff of Prismatic Power (sound familiar?)






The weapon after 1.5 was upgraded with better stats and improved effects, such as less resistability and less hate generation

Even for the low graphics style(blockie-ness), it looks very sweet.

I'd like to have an item that looks like the Staff of the Four. Or even like the first magician epic, with the multi-color particle effect. :P

We're talking about WARLOCKS here.

What are some things we can expect from our warlock epic weapon?

+poison damage
+disease damage
self wards
flowing thought
de-hate
spell crits

Those are typical, what I want to see are some truly UNIQUE effects for our class, just as the original epic weapons were indeed, unique.

Increase Max Number of Targets on Apoc by 3

Have the melee range on the item be 25m and 100% chance to proc 50dmg to each target on melee attack. This allows us to have (in essense) a wand like they have in WoW w/o them having to impliment the new code for it. And seeing as warlocks are ae masters just make it encounter based.

Have the weapon have a toggle ability to turn on "Emit Disease" where it puts an aura around us such as netherous does but instead of needing to be triggered it just does constant damage over time in aoe around us. Either make it small enough damage (30dmg on every target every 3 sec.) and make it free. Or make it cost a little power each time it ticks and make it higher damage (150dmg on every target every 3sec.)

Chain AE - on multi-encounter pull, your encouter AE has a chance to jump to another group already engaged to you

Right click effect: Netherous Realm (permanent insta clicky effect)



The lore behind our class is that were masters of the Void, perhaps effects or abilties along that line.

Summon: Void Army: Chance to summon an extra Netherlord or X amount of broodlings

Pet Focus Effects: +100 to dark broodling dps

Pet Focus Effects: +crushing to Netherlord

Or

Void Portals, 1 or more warlock can setup an in-zone portal that allows you to travel through the void to your destination. (cheesy rip-off of CoH, I know) That would probably piss off conjurers too.

Let's take a look at the mage epic weapons






This item summoned a powerful pet *ONLY AVAILABLE* to people who had the item. Normally a mage would summon his pet that he had scribed in his spellbook. This pet had self-haste, would stun (stifle) and could tank (...kinda).

I think that a proc chance to spawn broodlings or some such on every spell would be decent, or chance to proc a temp buff like corrupt gift for 20 secs, only not corrupt but something that would stack with it, maybe a constant ae disease/poison mit decrease.

With the level increase, I expect to see a lot of our current spells upgraded, especially Dark Infestation.

At level 80, what 60-70 spells could you even imagining still casting at level 80 ?

And remember when you went from 50-60? I expect possibly a new pbaoe spell, upgrade to rift, upgrade to dark infestation, void distortion upgrade, and quite a few others.
