    Default riftblade mechanics

has anyone tested yet how STR and attack power affect riftblade attacks that dont do weapon damage?
And i am also curious which proc items are triggered by their attacks.

If noone knows, i will try stuff out the next days i think.

Every Warrior is a Champion so we need to do some testing.

Tested - Spellpower/Int. do nothing as expected. Strength/Attack Power seems to be slightly increasing it. Champion +Physical Damage soul abilities have little to no effect on Flamespear. As far as I can tell, we want to stick with normal Plate DPS gear and stats.

Riftblade has been pissing me off. It's great leveling DPS, which is why I stick with it, but once you get high enough level to put points in other trees, it's very frustrating. It seems like there's nothing you can really do to increase your DPS, because most of the talents focus on increasing physical DPS, and so far I've yet to see anyone prove that Flamespear is physical damage.

I'm definitely going to have to learn a new spec when I hit 50. RB doesn't seem to be scaling well with gear at all, and that's kinda all you have to go on when you're max level. I imagine that Champion will be better than RB at 50. I can't say anything for the other DPS specs, since I haven't really tried them.

is there a way to dele critical hits in ACT? Until i can ignore critical hits, it is not worth my time to do my testing 100% mathematically correct.

However, i did a bit of testing regardless.

My goal was to compare flamespear scaling to the scaling of an ability that does physical damage and scales with weapon damage. The goal was not to find an exact formula, but to get an overview. For this i Stripped my Char of everything except the weapon and then hit a dummy with both abilities for a few minutes each. Then i put back my items and did the same.

For the first setup i had 71 attackpower. My flamespear average hit was 227, ravaging strike was at 129. It is to note that the spread for ravaging strike was much higher than for slamespear even though in the tooltip both have a spread of 4. This might mean that abilities with weapon damage simulate an actual weapon swing and take that random damage as a base.

For the second setup i had 291 attack power and flamespear average hit was 265, ravaging strike was 161.

Difference for Flamestrike is at 38, for ravaging strike at 32.
Flamestrike damage was increased by 50%, so the base difference was 26.
I do not know the armor of the dummy nor the resists, so i cannot break it down further.

The difference between those two numbers combared to the avrega 200 damage per hit is 3%, the error marigin because of critical hits and weapon swing spread for ravaging strike is much higher. Only 150 hits for each ability were registered, so for now it seems the growth based on attack power is about equal.
owever, to state this for certain a much larger number of hits would be neccessary, about 1000 for ravaging strike.

also, flamespear and searingstrike dont seem to trigger "on physical ability" procs.

Searing Strike, Rift Strike, and Frost Strike all proc this "Damaging spells have a chance to deal x damage immediately" Greater Planar Essence. Flamespear does not.

Well that's kinda lame for those fights where we get stuck out at range. How about Stonespear? Does that trigger the proc? I've been working that into my rotation since it hits pretty hard.
