Maybe I'm completely missing something, but Ancient Terrors looks better than Dark Power to me. Why do you guys think Ancient Terrors is so bad?

The proc from Ancient Terrors counts towards the spell damage cap, and with the ability to get so much spell damage already it severely lessens the value.

Not saying I'd let it rot, because I'd take it before it rotted just to screw with it, but it doesn't impress me at all.

If by wearing the crit robe you push yourself to 100% crit... its definately better.. whether or not that 20% boe really matters, im not sure. it's really only 7 seconds. the crit is consistent... i always felt like consistent dps was better than this over time bullshit...if i had a choice on gear id definately trade in my robe of alkabor for the crit robe + constant tc... that would probably own. maybe one day i can test it =)

Yes the robe is +spell damage. It counts towards your +spell damage cap, and you only get 6.6% (not 20%) on any AE spell you use while the proc is active.

So it is easy to see why the robe of dark power is the better choice.

And obviously, if you are sitting at 100% crits before the robe of dark power, then the robe of dark power is worthless - but until that can be the case, I wouldnt worry about it.

Wow, just wow, yeah that makes it suck a lot more. My guild's about to hit T3, and I was all excited for that robe, now I'm going to wait for Dark Power. are all boosts, VWB, WoCP, cMayong's Orb etc like that, or just this robe?

ok I had a guildie tell me it's a distinction between damage and base damage, so VWB affects BoE cap, but the orb and the wocp affect overall damage. I never would have made that distinction on my own, but thanks for clearing it up guys

WoCP, dark orb of the mind and bloodthirsty choker give a flatout 10% increase, rest works towards BoE. I don't really agree any robe is better than Robe of Al'kabor since there's so much crit gear that the difference between 70% and 80% crit in raids is not that important in terms of dps. I've also noticed wizards have become a lot more dependant than warlocks on TC this xpac to produce their optimal dps. I get it like 30% of the time atm and doesn't really make a big difference, prolly giving me 150-200 dps more on the zw while the wizard loses easily the double when he doesn't have it.
