Aggro control...needing some help
I'm having issues with aggro management. So any advice from you fellow wizzys would be greatly appreciated. Currently im almost mastered out for T8 spells I'm only missing Glaciershield, Consolidation, and Ro's Coils (and those are AD3s). Currently my raid group consists of; Wiz, Warlock, Conj, illus, necro fury. During raids, its a constant struggle to do decent dps and not pulling aggro and getting killed. I find that I can comfortably do 2kdps and live in a fight(who wants a wizard that parses that shit). Though any time i start parsing 3k-5k i pull agro and get killed. I'm rotating my 2 hate loss spells at least 1-2 times per minute. As far as my casting order it goes Glacier shield(before fight), proto, Iceshape/gift, spears, ro's, the other dot. BoM, IN, Heatwave, then Hate loss spells, Then BoM again and get into typical casting. Hitting the Hate loss spells when they are up. I try to use fusion closer to the end of the fight as it hits at a minimum of 25-30k. Besides getting a trouby in the group is there anything else I can do to stay alive for these encounters... Is anyone else having an issue with aggro? Is this something that is my control or is it the tanks?
Any input or advice is appreciated.

Re: Aggro control...needing some help
You have no Troubador. Your de-aggro is almost non-existant. There isn't anyway you're going to pull out insane numbers without getting Link from a Coercer, Moderate from a Guardian, Amends from a Paladin, or a Troubador for Alin's.

Re: Aggro control...needing some help
So basically, since I don't have a troubadour or Coercer in guild that actively raid and I'm not in a tank group I'm pretty much beat? Ammends and Moderate are group only buffs correct? Whats the ideal group set up for mage dps and what buffs should i have on me besides TC ?
Thanks

Re: Aggro control...needing some help
Last two weeks I myself have been troubless. Now my guild will do everything in its power to keep me alive since I do what I do well, but Link is nothing compared to the yellow rose.
Troubadors are vital to our class, without one, we are gimped. Even more so than if you take a dirge away from a scout.
WIZARDS NEED TROUBADORS
now some fools might say well, spec INT if you are worried about deaggro. To that I would say stfu, How about you knock yourself down to T2 DPS just cuz another class isnt online.
My only advice Mag is to simply make sure you are targetting the mob directly. So you know the exact second you rip. As a DE, I have 1 get out of jail free card every 3 min or so. use every trick you can. Run to the tank if you have no possible way of ditching. You've got a 30% chance to live, lol. With no troub my cursor hovers over Shadow Slip every Bolt of Ice I cast.
This problem even led me to make a statement in guk.wizards the other day. Why the fuck does the troub class have to be so boring to play? I have no experience myself. I have alot of alts, but none are scouts. Fuck I would give a troub T7 Ice Nova if I could. I've seen more troubs burn out faster than anything else in this game. Yet they are so neccessary to others. Makes no goddamn sense to me.
I'm to the point where I would fucking start paying for a reliable troub, lol.

Re: Aggro control...needing some help
I used to take pride in being able to take aggro away from a tank when I wanted. It fed my DPS ego, though now that i'm mastered out in T8 for all my Damage spells its really rediculous how many times I die. It sucks cause it makes me look like one of those shitty wizards that just casts out and pays no attention to aggro when I am really doing everything i can to prevent this. All the moments wasted worrying about aggro lowers my DPS significantly. I have a Conj in my group that can pretty much do as much DPS as I can Though has no issues with aggro because of how the devs made the game.
The way it is now even when the MT has aggro if he goes down or gets stunned/stiffled i'm always 2nd in hate line. Down goes me.... lol another issue unrelated the fury in my group refuses to heal because he would rather try to break 1k dps... That doesnt help either.
WTB a trouby

The best damn thing a fury can do is use death prevention on your ass.. heals is secondary... because.. how long it takes you to eat some dirt? While you may live through a hit here and there , its not a reliable way of saving someone.

Re: Aggro control...needing some help
If you are playing well agro is a fairly large problem this expansion if you are raiding VP. In any zone that is yellow I generally have 0 problems with agro even without a troub (which has happened quite a few times recently). However, in VP without a troub you can kiss your ass good bye (you might still be face in the dirt with a troub fairly often).
The two situations you are most likely to pull a mob off the tank are when he has a control effect on him, be it something like a stun or mez, that stops him from doing anything. Learn what mobs do these things, watch for the effect on the tank or something else noticeable like a knockback that might indicate it hit the tank. If it is an arcane effect cure it yourself, watch for your tank to start swinging again or reposition himself. When he is stunned you have a big chance if a large nova or fission hits you are going to eat it. The second occasion you are going to eat it is if your tank sucks. Get a feel for your tank and when he is doing bigger stuff and try to time your order around that.
Also while making sure you get some sort of deagro like mentioned above, make sure your tank gets as much hate as possible (ie dirge swash coercer or something of the likes).

Re: Aggro control...needing some help
While I am not mastered out I am starting the climb, aggro really isn't an issue yet for me as the best I can muster with my gimp ass raid group is about 2.5k. However i can pretty much open with a Catalyst Bolt of Ice after my pitiful debuff and chaos doll..how long into a fight does that take? anyways our MT group is stacked for hate coercers, Dirge the usual fare of healers. I get lucky sometimes and get a pally in my group, but usually it's a necro/congy, Fury, Monk/Zerker, or a scout/brig and if I am real lucky an Illusionist. hardly ever do I get a troub...got one the other night but while I am 80 there 76...Hate has never really been an issue for me, but as i am still parsing about the same as i did in T8 it would be hard for me to comment on what i personally experience.. bought the only time i pull the hate is when tank gets stunned...but MT is so fast on cures this is very far and few between. Maybe look into what your MT group is doing to feed hate to your tank, might not just be all your group.
Oh yeah one last note... the only time I am even thihkng of useing my dehates is when the mob does start hitting me. so if your haveing to hold back in fear of ripping it may just be your tanks setup more than yours.
