Given the frustration that this quest is causing people and the fact that it's supposed to be an "Epic" quest, I'm gonna have to say that it's "working as intended".

Sorry man! I do wish you luck on getting your drop. If you were on Blackburrow, I'd grab some friends that can do this zone and help you out.

Although Kotiz is a caster and as such stands at range, he isnt all that soloable unless you were to take advantage of line of sight exploits, but even then he will probably just run around until he can see you again.

I just duoed him with a fury - with decent nox resists it is easy to just heal through his ranged damage. Only tricky part can be getting a clean pull to avoid social agro.

As for struggling to get this update, it probably just means you arent trying hard enough.

From what I have been able to gather (got mine first Kotiz kill), none of the named have a 100% drop rate (with the other random named in the basement being seemingly lower than kotiz). However, it is probably a positive thing for some that Kotiz isn't the only named that drops the update - it appears any named in the basement can drop the update ... Praetorian Captain Nogal, 2 x Nihilist, First Lieutenant Rixol all confirmed by others - but again remember, not 100% drop rate.

This isnt a bad thing either - the named in the basement have some very nice drops, and tradeable for the most part.

Calling your bluff on this one. There is no chance in hell you duoed your way down there with the repop rate, except maybe in your dreams.

/shrug, only tricky part in getting to Kotiz's room is the hallway of praetorians just outside of it. Easily dealt with, with stoneskin gear, sprint, tinkered FD, and a rez from the healer if you dont quite make it.

Coming from the slave caves is far easier than through the barracks btw, especially if you arent kos to the reets.

When in Kotiz's room, kill one of the golems on either the left or right, and hop up the wall there. Then have your healer not engage, until you get a clean pull on Kotiz.

Having said the above, I probably have better gear than the majority of the people failing at getting this update - but it should certainly be doable by your average pickup group, even if you do end up with 1 or 2 idiots.

hehe you don't even remember what a standard PU group is ?
I remember that I made my first Unrest run in 50 minutes with a group of 5 peoples from the best hardcore guild of our server. A standard PU needed more than 2 hours, may be 3 !

Deep seb is same : A good group can go down there without trouble if they know what they are doing. But I saw PU groups wiping 3 times at the prison pool, just because they were getting agro from the only mob who sees thru invis ! I even saw a RAID almost wiping in the barracks because they were getting agro from 4 mobs...
2 idiots, even ONE, is enough to wipe and wipe and wipe again.

Then I understand how frustrating it can be to finally get a good group, camp named and get nothing.
But I also remember what Epic was in EQ1 ! I was a magician, and spent almost one full week (40 hours, I will always remember that) to try and get the drop from the flying horse, this was really putting me in a very bad mood. Finally a friend gave it to me.

pickup groups would be better if they were on ventrillo like most the guild groups imo =p Honestly...if you wanna get back there I just invis'd around to the water. And when I could not get past aggro I just chilled under water until a group came through. Then ya can just tag along and if they don't let you in - atleast you can camp around the name spot in hopes of getting one.

Just be glad you arent doing the Epic Weapon camps that came in EQ1

Hours upon Hours upon Days Upon Weeks Camping in 2 spots for my Cleric epic 1.0 (Lake rathe anyone?)

And then for the 1.5?? Hours Upon Hours Upon Hours Upon Hours of farming for map pieces in ghey GoD zones.

Having to camp something for 4 hours and not getting a drop?? thats pathetic to whine about.
