Ultimate Group AAs
atm im using:
STR 44682
AGI 44682
WIS 4548
so i have Catalyst, Freehand sorcery (that stacks) and 4% dmg bonus for all spells, as well as full Agi line heh.
Any suggestions? my main purpose is to maximize group/instance dps...

Re: Ultimate Group AAs
thats pretty sound.. was going to ask about power issues, but if its only for group/instance you should be fine

Re: Ultimate Group AAs
With pug's i can find myself tanking as much as the tank. They are never built with aggro management in mind. And the only wizards that beleive in moderation do so because they can't dps. Go with Sta - Shielding for maximum survivability. A dead wiz means no dps.

Then go find a decent tank, most of the tanks I group with can handle 2-3k av. dps. Just be carefull with your spike dmg...
Imho the overall Sorc. setup of AGI/WIS and a little bit of STR works fine for groups...

Re: Ultimate Group AAs
I'd skip Catalyst really for heroic stuff... Since stuff die as fast as it does (mostly) the casting timer for it takes away the potential dps gained really. Put the spare STR-line points in Freehand instead. Leaves ya with one spare point, and then you might as well drop one point from FHS to drop in sagacity while you're at it anyway. :D

Re: Ultimate Group AAs
GROUPS : these last weeks, I spent a lot of time for my Epic and in instances.
75% Pick up groups.
your DPS / power consuming depends much more on the group than on any AA
My DPS varies, in the same zone, by 50% depending on tank and others as it has been told.
COA is the only zone where I have Power difficulties with a PU group.
With a fast guild group I don't - but my DPS goes down : with a SK in offensive mode, an assassin and a brigand, I have not enough time for positioning correctly to use fission (anyway while I move, I don't cast...), and of course Surge is totally useless.. Well, then I can slack a bit or cast big booms asap and tank a bit ;)
Of course catalist is a no way, as anything that makes me loose time.

Re: Ultimate Group AAs
The best way for group dpsing so far, is not AA change (unless you get a lot of power procs item or clicky for manaburn) but changing spells order.
Precast:
Gift+iceshape
Furnace of Ro
Ice shield (sp? ;))
Then:
Ice spears
heatwave
Bolt of Ice
Fusion (when up)
Bolt of magma
(usually dead on fast group)
But, My bolt of ice stand at 2.81 sec casting time without buff.
What I had experiences, spell casting time own DPS for fast fight with the order bellow.
I always change my orders when Tank is a lot in the red:
Ice spears
Surging Tempest
Bolt of Ice
Magma Chamber
Velious (snare)
Blip (stiffle)
Even that defensive spells order give nice DPS but not the best.
Manaburn is really nice because it fuck with other DPS tempo.
More you fuck your group tempo... more you will be the DPS whore. ;)
People tend to find their best casting order in the 10 first fight. So, Manaburn help to fuck their timing. Rayz of desintegration at 80 serve the same purpose. Doing rayz at 30% mob life for 2 fight then doing it at 80% of mob life, change tempo... and will screw the DPSer that cannot adjust to situation (they get a casting order static on their hotbar clicking always the same sequence...). (having a lot of spell casting time gear is nice for Rayz, yours will hit before them!)
Keep in mind that Velium Gift is a really nice buff that buff conjy more than us (with iceshape if they use their fire pet), and Rayz help them a lot too. (if they had land more DoT than you and it's almost always the case) So, if you are fighting for ZW and get an ass ass in in your group, simply... buff your conjy for 1 fight, then don't the other fight. That will bring the conjy first, then you... but will break the ass tempo, while the other fight you will own it. (so ZW, it could be either you or conjy then ass... ;)) But... never be consistent for fight DPSing. (because people feel more secure with the same spell/ca order)
That's it, to be the best DPS ZW you must be the best spell caster disrupter. And that sucks with guildies.
On the other hand... Manaburn, Fission, Rayz and VeliumGift/Iceshape are some ways for wizard to break shift the tempo in fights.
But... on a final word, the best way to putting more DPS on the table, is always parsing each fight(ctrl-v in own channel), changing some spell order for your own gears and aa setup and spells quality (i use my masters more than anything else... so Rayz ROK against scout for 2 mages up), trying to understand the best combinations and be open to change it for the next fight.

Re: Ultimate Group AAs
The idea of using rays randomly to gimp other mage dps, and tricking people into thinking they have your buffs is retarded behavior. While you're at it, you might as well start rooting mobs on the pull to force scouts to run to mob. All of that isn't dpsing well, its forcing your group to dps less. None of these strategies will actually increase your own parse; in fact it will drop because *you* are not using your own rays/gift to maximum potential.
