In a nutshell: successful soloing is more about style than spec IMO
manashield/mitigation spec is for deuling.

eww i don't agree with this at all...
1st for soloing on named immune to root..say named like in coa...
try this casting order
iceshield, iceshape, frigid gift, storming tempest, ice spears, ice comet, hail storm, magma chamber, ball of magma, flames of velious (kite if necessary) but preferred to stand there and take it like a man...so continue the barrage...fusion has a nice knockdown for u too
2ndly if you are going to play tank the mitigation is hugely important, your "duel spec" what i call my pvp spec on nagafen is actually quite effective for soloing and tanking. I don't understand how someone can even feasibly put down the power of 8 points in battlemage armor. I mean yes we can tank as well as your average level 79 enchanter without any mitigation, but the second u get one add more than what u intended, and u try to tank that as well ur healer isn't goign to be able to keep up. Or if your healer gets stunned/stifled/feared, you need to have an answer other than "oops i died"
if you tank you have mitigation..that's all there is too it
