casting speed reduction and formula

Hi all

I'm have a little trouble with the casting speed reduction formula

Fore exemple with bolt of ice
base time cast = 4 sec

I have the 14.4 reduction from my aa
and 7 reduction from my gear.

with 7 the time casting is 3.29
with 5 the time casting is 3.35
with 3 the time casting is 3.41
with 1 the time casting is 3.47
with 0 the time casting is 3.50

so 1% casting reduction = 0.03 s
but the 0.5 reduction is for 16.6 reduction casting speed and i only have 14.4 from my aa

And I don't undertand how 1% reduce casting time can give 0.03sec reduce for a 4sec base spell

So did some one have the right formula or tell me where i'm wrong

You have the math wrong.

Time/(1+0.Haste).

Examples:
4.0/1.144=3.5, and 4.0/1.214=3.29

Hence why you get the values you are getting. They make the % bonuses curve by doing it this way.

The item effects that reduce cast times are poorly labelled, they really do something called "increase cast speed" which is a little different.

For example, if you have 50% cast speed increase, that means you can accomplish 150% (100% representing the original + 50% increase) more casting in the same amount of time. In the 4s time it takes to cast Bolt of Ice, you can now cast 6 seconds worth of spells (4 * 150%). This is different from a flat reduction, where decreasing by 50% means you could cast twice as much in the same time.

Adjusted Cast Timer = Original Cast Timer / (1 + Cast speed increase)
*Cast speed increase expressed as decimal, ex. 0.5 instead of 50%
