Rays of distortion...
I'm not a wizard, but I do play raid leader from time to time... seems like my warlock doesn't like grouping with the wizard because Rays, in his opinion, holds back his dps... he'd rather have TC from an OT Illu than the troub in the caster group.Should I appease him or tell him to get over it, or convince him to betray to wizard ;p

Re: Rays of distortion...
Tell the wizards to stop sucking and try to coordinate it so that it doesnt screw over the warlock. For example: pick a % when you are going to use it and stick to that % so that its consistent. Also, give the damn warlocks and other mages in your group a 5 second warning for god sakes.

If u're talking about Zahne he's trully a whiny bitch. On a serious note, with a good coordination this spell can be awesome for every mage in the grp.

Re: Rays of distortion...
For a third opinion from a strike sorceror...
I'm ok with Rays being cast on certain fights. It can be and is a powerful spell for mages in a raid setting, but it can get in the way on 30 second trash fights. My opening spell sequence is pretty set and i don't like when it gets interuppted to cast rays when the fights are really quick. It's great on longer fights when you're running out of things to cast. Stivan is right though, it requires co-ordination and understanding on the part of all parties.
A simple macro for "Casting Rays in 5 seconds" then counting to 5 and hitting the button will help a lot. Also, if there are multiple wizards, you can set up a system where the 2nd mage casts a single spell after rays hits and punches his own button. There are other factors that should be considered, like mob health and things, but it's just about communication. (And I admit even the Strike mage group will get it wrong and ruffle feathers occaisionally)

Re: Rays of distortion...
I treat rays just like another spell in my cast order, I hit it when its the best one up. Just kills me when its Rays time and I see the lifeburn macro, then I gotta hit a couple spells, but by the time lifeburn is done rays isn't the best thing to hit so i gotta work my way to it again.

*laugh* I think we'd get some people screaming in vent again if we tried that.

I still try to predict with a macro. But i mean sure I could macro to one of my nukes but theres not really any point in a 1.5 - 2 second warning, and nothing even says I hit a certain nuke before rays. I just hit a macro when I know im probably going to hit rays soon. Nothing annoys me more though than having a better spell up to hit, yet dicking around with weak spells because maybe everyone isn't ready. If you're not lifeburning you shoudl be ready. I've had fission interrupted its not end of the world for dps. But lifeburn usually sets a couple other people into routine of action (healer, troub j-capping etc) so interrupting that kinda dicks more than just the necro.
ugh, lol, h8 pussy footing around a spell and not hitting a better one when its up though, really.
