Rays of Disintegration?
Okay, I must admit I have no idea how to use this spell. The description is vague...it refers to casting it along with other mages? Do other mage classes have it?
If so, how and when do they all decide to cast it?
Finally, "inflicts heat damage on target - If Mage" (?) The mob has to be a mage?
I'm thoroughly confused and haven't found anything that explains it...which is why I'm asking a noob question.
Help?

Re: Rays of Disintegration?
Simple version: You hit the button, and every mage in your group casts the spell with you. It interupts whateveer they're casting at the time, so be sure to give a couple seconds warning so they can finish a long cast or something.
It has it's ups and downs, just communicate and the other mages in your group won't skin you alive... much.

Re: Rays of Disintegration?
hate it when another wizard in my group use it, because it interrupt my spell (loosing some seconds) loosing seconds again to cast it, does not make a very high damage and then has a very low DPS !
And as the well know bread and butter theorema says it, it is generally cast when I already have freehand up and casting fission or Ice bolt.
Should I add that, even if it were good for my DPS i would NOT like it ? I generally do not like people forcing me to do something, even if they say it is good for me...

Re: Rays of Disintegration?
Yea I use a 5sec warning before casting that way if another wizard or whatever has just started fission or BOI it will finish before ROD starts. I have M1 and it hits pretty good 10-14k. If I have TC there are times when the bread and butter spells are all on cooldown so I do one of the green encounter AE's or RoD if it is up to fill the gap.

Re: Rays of Disintegration?
Well Kamp you have been asking for advice and all I can say is....dont ever cast solar wind or (gasp) elec flash on a single target. I get TC and have the T8 RoA, so there are many times I am -completely- capped on cast speed, there will always be Heatwave, Solar Flare, Glacial, Ro's Coil, or FoV amongst others that -will- be up, and are much better choices to use between the big hits. You cannot tell me they are ever all down.
But I digress, Rays.......what can I say...yea, I hated it. Then I stuck to hating it cuz I'm stubborn type. But these last few weeks I have really given it a chance, and I must say I was wrong, I am definetely not dissapointed. Basically using it everytime its up now, and have seen a slight increase in my personal, and raid dps.
I dont even warn the group if theres no other sorc with me. On the occasion our warlock is there, I will give him a -3- sec warning.
Its hit for over 17K for me personally many times, and sits at about an avg 11K over the ZW. Contributing approx 2-3% every night.

I agree, for single target for sure, guess the times I had in mind it was multimob encounters, i'll have to take note next time.

Re: Rays of Disintegration?
Sac, thanks a lot. That's really helpful.
Does RoD interrupt other mages' spells? Your illy's and conj's, etc.? I really need my TC, so I better find out before I annoy him...hehe.
Khad.

Re: Rays of Disintegration?
yes, it does interrupt. Theres not an illy that plays thats really gonna mind though. And as far as summoners, I've found it actually varies, 75% love it and dont even ask for a warning, the remainder would like the warning.
It's just too big of a hit for all them other mages personally for any of them to say its hurting their DPS. sorc's excluded. Single target mobs.
