Default Answer to the question: Should I respec when TSO is released?

Short answer? Yes.

Long answer?

Playing with the TSO tiers and the AA requirements to get into them, I've come to the following conclusions.

First, a quick review of how TSO AA tiers are setup.

The General tier can be used to spend aa at any time. The caveat is that you must spend 10 AA in the general tier to get to the Mage tier. I plan on spending them in the HP and Mana areas, but that's just a knee jerk reaction on my part. If anyone has an arguement for other ones, let me know.

The Mage Tier can be accessed at 70 AA spent (i think) again you have to spend 10 AA here to get to the next tier. I reccomend the Lighting Burst and Consolidation (purple shield) as your 10, but that's up to you. Stivan reccomends getting the final ability in this tier, not sure on that, haven't tested it.

The Sorceror Tier can be accessed at 120 AA spent (in all tabs). This tier has the 10% base damage bonus and 5% crit damage bonus.

The Wizard Tier can be accessed at 170 AA spent. This has the Fusion damage bonus and other neato abilities.

OK, the crux of the matter is should we respec on day 1. The answer to this in my mind is, yes. However, I believe we should ONLY reset our Wizard AA and leave the normal 70 AA distributed in WIS/AGI/STR lines in the Sorceror Tree.

Once we do that, we have 70 AA to spend. I propose spending them in the following manner. 10 AA in TSO General. 11 in TSO Mage. 29 in the Wizard tree. Then back to the TSO Sorceror tree where we can spend 11-16 AA as we see fit, then dump the remainder into the Wizard tree.

This will allow us to keep our Sorc AA's, keep most of what we want in the Wizard AA, and still get the 10% damage bonus, 5% crit damage bonus, and a few other goodies out of TSO.

So when we start getting more AA, where do we spend them? My advice would be to continue filling out your Wizard tree until you reach 170 AA, then hop back and fill out the TSO Wizard tier. This has some abilities I'm already drooling over. Once you max out the TSO tree, use the rest of your AA until cap to finish out your old spec in the Wizard tree.

Thanks for reading.

You missed how you can't spend Sorc/Wizard AA points into the Shadow Tree initially upon launch.

Not true. The only pre-req's for the TSO are the total AA spent, and the pre-req's in the TSO tree. Without a doubt you CAN spend AA in the TSO tree with less than 140 AA.

You are completely missing everyones point. It has nothing to do with having less than 140. AA's you have from prior to TSO launch cannot be respec'd and spent in the TSO tree.

No shit huh? Thats a bit weird if they are going to make us get new points for the new tree, but it makes sense to artificially hold back progression into new AAs.

If you could direct me to a Dev post with that said explicitly, I would appreciate it. I just spent 30 min looking for one in the beta forums and couldn't find it.

However, the way it is set on the beta server right now it does allow you to respec. This could change on Live.

Didn't the info on the respec thing come out before they announced the AA points needed for each branch?

I remember the post, but that was before all the AAs were even final, these things have a way of changing. Once I heard the actual point breakdown, I figured they had just 'finalized' how it was going to work. Makes sense because the biggest goodies are in the class tree, which you obviously can't get on day 1 because it requires at least 30 AA more points to hit 170 before you can begin to spec it.

Is this just the evolution and final form of what the initial policy of 'no points into TSO line on day 1' started out as?

I find it funny if they don't let you respec to get run and mount speed and the rest of the general AAs that no one wants except to get to the next branch anyway...

Kiara's response does not relate. The question is based on like crusader KoS and EoF aa's changing and having a respec for those. The rest of the thread is speculation both ways, and the guy who tried to sound the most intelligent has his facts about the points required to get what wrong (which you also have wrong above, his is a bit closer however).
