Default Tradeskill choice?

Hi folks, new to EQ2 and wondering what the consensus is on optimal tradeskills for us. I get the feeling this is less important in this game than in others, but I'd still love to hear your thoughts. I was leaning towards sage, but that almost feels too obvious. Thanks!

Depends, but provisioner, alchemist and sage are all viable. If you are leveling it as you level, sage would be worth it to make your Adept III's, but if you are 80 and haven't picked one yet I say provisioner or alchemist to make your 30min combat food/crit potions.

Once you become a level 20 crafter, you can pick up a secondary tradeskill, either Tinkering or Transmuting -

I strongly recommend tinkering as a wizard - there's so many goodies that I just can't live without anymore

eg:

*Overclocked manastones (20% power instantly every 10 mins)
*Behavioral Modificinator Stereopticon (~5k instant cast detaunt, 1.5 min recast)
*Mendor Bot
*-Two- FD items on seperate recast timers
*Call of the tinkerer (teleport to target groupmate in zone, 1hr recast, unlim charges)

There's a bunch of other goodies, but you get my drift ;)

Actually there are three and all are on seperate timers. But yea, couldn't agree more that tinkering as a wiz is FTW.

Only have to be lvl 2 to start tinkering/muting. Just hail the ts guy with the starter quest and your set.
