VP / Void Shard Gear
Been trying to do some side by side comparisons, taking into account set bonuses, etc. but keep bumping my head on a few things so figured I would ask some of the more experienced wizzies what their take was.
Which VP patterns would you still use, which pieces of Elucidated would you use, etc.
We are breaking through VP and I have also been slowly adding shard gear as I can. I don't want to loot a pattern over someone else only to have it be replaced by shard gear later on. So in the best interest of myself and others, I pose the question.. which VP items do you still wear over Elucidated.

Re: VP / Void Shard Gear
The T2 Shard set has +8 base on shoulders, +2 on robe and + 4 as a 5 set so for the 5 set that's +14 base. Not too shabby.

Re: VP / Void Shard Gear
It's very pick and choose. As it stands, depending on what you have access to, I'd replace the T2 shard armor over your VP shoulders.
That's the only standout, but bear in mind other stuff still trumps both. I've kept the SoH Hood, it's still just too good. I like the Darkmetal Gaunts for gloves. VP pants are a no brainer.
TSO slippers are better then VP in every way and pick up raids should be able to get you the pattern drops. Consider using the TSO forearms to get the 2 peice set bonus and certainly over the VP forearms which are by far the worst peice in the entire VP set.
You can play around a little bit with the various set bonuses to see what works best for you, capping crit and whatnot, but off the top of my head and without looking at the items in question if you're in VP you really only need the pants and the hat if you don't have HoDD.

Re: VP / Void Shard Gear
If I could ever get pants to drop. We have been clearing VP since mid/late summer and NEVER saw a Wizzy leg pattern drop until this past monday and this time it went to a warden
Hopefully all the new apps will get theirs smart loot so our smart loot will finally kick in. It is retarded as hell that 7months later wizzy pattern finally drops

Re: VP / Void Shard Gear
Thanks guys. I figured the pants were a no-brainer, but we honestly don't plan to spend "too much" time in VP so I certainly didn't want to go in on a pattern that would be much more useful to another class, only to rep it with Elucidated a few weeks later.
Figure it's better to ask a question, then to not care.

Re: VP / Void Shard Gear
So to further add to my question/confusion...
I now have 5/6 T2 shard armor. My biggest question now is Robe. I am currently wearing the Robe of Dark Power but someone has suggested to me that I would be better off with the T2 Robe due to the base dam increase. The RoDP puts me at about 93% crit and 920 spell mod.
I also have the SMR. Of the 3, I have noticed the biggest increase in DPS while wearing the Robe of Dark Power but as I said, I was also adding T2 shard gear around the same time so I don't have a solid numerical baseline. The SMR proc is also very unpredictable so I honestly can't see relying on it.
I was thinking of moving to the T2 Robe (elucidated btw) instead of the RoDP and switching in the VP Boots or Pants in place of one of the T2 pieces thus keeping my 5 piece bonus. The VP boots are a clear upgrade over the T2 boots (why are these so weak?) but at this point I figure it safe to ask some more experienced wizzies on this.

Re: VP / Void Shard Gear
If you have the VP pants and RoDP, I would drop the T2 set TBH, grab some Dark Mail Gauntlets, the TSO 2 set if you got them and whatever else you have that fits.

Re: VP / Void Shard Gear
If you have to sacrafice the nexus pant slot for any of the shard bonuses you're losing dps. Prolly almost goes the same for maintaining a VP set bonus, if you have to give up the 8% base shoulders, you are prolly losing dps. But its so dependent on what gear you actually have in your bags so it'll vary.

Re: VP / Void Shard Gear
if you already have the 5 piece bonus from tso, dark power is your first choice for that chest slot. By dropping another piece, you'd lose 5% base dmg, but as many ppl already said vp pants are a must-have. So I'd recommend you to also use Darkmetalgloves and VP Hat/HoDD, because the combination of these items will earn you more dps than the 5 piece bonus from tso.
