The only time I use rays is if all the mages in my group are very low on power so that there is more damage done.
Am I correct in geting upset or am I missing something here

First of all, that other wizard must not be putting up good numbers if he is using RoD as an opening spell.
Talk to your fellow wizard if you are constantly in the same group as him. See if you can work out an RoD rotation.
Also, you should know your guild makes and group mates well enough that you can tell who you should and should not use RoD around.
Also...if you dont want to get interrupted by the other Wizzy's RoD, make sure you are 15m away from them....and vice versa if you dont want to interrupt your group mate(s) with RoD then get the fuck way from them.
Take me for example. We have 2 wizards in my guild. I have seniority and I double the other wizards DPS. So, if we are in teh same group, she knows to RoD me only after I have cast it. She is also smart enought to not open her rotation with RoD as I have given her my exact casting order and such.
When it comes to other wizards...they can eat my RoD...if they RoD me at an in-opportune moment...I am still going to beat them on parse so I dont really care.
When it comes to my Illy...she loves it...so I can spam RoD all day long and she wont say a thing..
If I am in group with one of our Warlocks...I am typically in melee range, while they stay ranged...and I cast RoD all day long as well.
We dont have any summoners in guild...so I cant help ya there from personal experience...cept they typically DONT like it and you should have your distance from them before you cast it.
In all honesty...when it comes to me casting it...I will cast it all day long, I dont care, its another 20k+ nuke for me. However, I do take other players into consideration...its common sense...I dont fret about it. Either tell them to stay ranged and you get in melee range or just make sure you are 15m apart /wink.
When it comes to you getting interrupted by your fellow wizzy...1. coach them on casting order...2. make sure you are 15m away from each other....3. Have your fury animal form them 4. Have your SK FD them
Okay...enough drunk rambling from me...I hope some thing in my post helped!
