The only time I use rays is if all the mages in my group are very low on power so that there is more damage done.

Am I correct in geting upset or am I missing something here
1. If hes using it in his opening sequence he must suck ass and be doing poor dps

2. What does having low power have to do with anything? I don't see any connection between low power and Rays being a good idea. You saying people only have power left to cast 1 spells and your gonna make it Rays. Still doesn't make much sense.

3. I don't have a formula for when its good to use rays

Rays doesn't cost the other mages any power.

However if the group is OOP, fire your enchanter or something.

Cast rays when it's the biggest nuke up and it's actually going to hit the mob.

As a conjy I really don't care for Rays, even if it works out perfectly with my casting order (which it never does), its at best a break even DPS spell for me.

It takes what? 2 seconds to cast? 2.5?

On my last palace run this spell was hitting for an average of just over 17k. Assuming a 2 second cast time, and it working into my rotation perfectly, I'm still doing no more than 7-8k dps (with recovery time) on this spell, and even with my pet doing damage thats about break even for my DPS. More likely though its going to interupt one of my spells wasting anywhere from a tenth to 2 seconds of casting time which is drags my DPS down into like the 4k range for those few seconds.

On top of that its almost always cast when Potm or PoM is running, which really bugs me cause conjys live on procs.

However the Illy likes it, so I live with it. Heck I'm a conjy, and just happy that my guild is keeping me around to raid.

Saints Conj tops the parse usually, but then again he is a god

I was topping the parse untill our last palace run and then our Illy finally got me...He stole my UT though!

In fairness I did have TC, but I'd take UT over TC given the option. However the Illy and myself are always at the top of the parse by a good ways, so it doesn't make sense to give me UT and have to waste the TC on someone else.

If TC puts you over the casting speed max, then yes, you would want UT. But, generally, most ppl are not put over casting speed max with TC.

Granted increased reuse is nice...and an extra tick on tempest is nice....But i like the faster casting of TC vs UT. UT was made for Warlocks and Illys. Our dps is not "dot" heavy. I would keep TC since a "dot heavy" class would better benefit from UT while us slow casting wizards better benefit from TC....but like I said...if you are close to casting speed max....and TC puts you over the cap...then go with UT.

Am I correct in geting upset or am I missing something here

First of all, that other wizard must not be putting up good numbers if he is using RoD as an opening spell.

Talk to your fellow wizard if you are constantly in the same group as him. See if you can work out an RoD rotation.

Also, you should know your guild makes and group mates well enough that you can tell who you should and should not use RoD around.

Also...if you dont want to get interrupted by the other Wizzy's RoD, make sure you are 15m away from them....and vice versa if you dont want to interrupt your group mate(s) with RoD then get the fuck way from them.

Take me for example. We have 2 wizards in my guild. I have seniority and I double the other wizards DPS. So, if we are in teh same group, she knows to RoD me only after I have cast it. She is also smart enought to not open her rotation with RoD as I have given her my exact casting order and such.

When it comes to other wizards...they can eat my RoD...if they RoD me at an in-opportune moment...I am still going to beat them on parse so I dont really care.

When it comes to my Illy...she loves it...so I can spam RoD all day long and she wont say a thing..

If I am in group with one of our Warlocks...I am typically in melee range, while they stay ranged...and I cast RoD all day long as well.

We dont have any summoners in guild...so I cant help ya there from personal experience...cept they typically DONT like it and you should have your distance from them before you cast it.

In all honesty...when it comes to me casting it...I will cast it all day long, I dont care, its another 20k+ nuke for me. However, I do take other players into consideration...its common sense...I dont fret about it. Either tell them to stay ranged and you get in melee range or just make sure you are 15m apart /wink.

When it comes to you getting interrupted by your fellow wizzy...1. coach them on casting order...2. make sure you are 15m away from each other....3. Have your fury animal form them 4. Have your SK FD them

Okay...enough drunk rambling from me...I hope some thing in my post helped!

good idea. Of course, knowing that the warlock in my group is an officer of the guild, and moreover he's very often the raid leader, I wonder how many times I'll stay in guild ...
I have suddenly a doubt, a big suspicion : are you paid by my wife ?
