Rays when should they be used

I am a wizzy and I often get grouped in a raid with another wizzy, these are the circumstances that irritate the shit out of me the other wizzy uses rays as part of his opening rotation and it interupts my sequence. It normally happens just as I have cast my freehand sorcery which means im ready to cast BOI or fission and as you know these are long casts anyway this means that I need to jump to stop the rays which also means lost DPS as now it is a double cast.......

The only time I use rays is if all the mages in my group are very low on power so that there is more damage done.

Am I correct in geting upset or am I missing something here

I don't know what "correct" means ...
In raid I am very often grouped with a warlock who hates ray, long ago I chose not to cast it because I don't see why I should upset a friend even if it is good for my own DPS.

When I am grouped with another wizzy, I don't like when he uses ray for the same reasons as yours. One day, as I was grouped with a ray user, I asked the raid leader to move me to another group, even if by the same move I was loosing the Troubadour buffers.
I prefer not having a troub in my group than being imposed something. But that's just me, I won't say it is correct ! depends on what is important for you.
It's only a game anyway.

Personally as a warlock who was grouped with a wizard on raids because our 2nd troub's comp died on him.

He would cast rays near 10% of the mob dieing, with a macro saying he was letting of rays in 5 seconds give or take. I don't mind that, its just when wizard deciede to ninja rays without a warning or anything, or on named fights when you have a elemental that makes your damage hit for 1-2. It's a bit annoying in that perspective.

Or when a mob gets pulled and you have focued up getting your primary spells off and a wizard was to ninja rays.

But, I am not a wizard and have no idea how your guys' casting works or what not..
This is my perspective as a warlock who was in the same group as a wizard for somtime.

But, my answer would be.. I think you should let it off, if you do deciede to at 10-15%

As an illusionist i support casting that spell every fuckign time it is up, it shoudl be your number one priority, no exceptions. If anyoen else bitches tell them to stfu or gtfo, theres the door.

Fuck rays, I didn't like it much as a conjurer and I hate it as a warlock. Maybe I fail because of that, I still hate it :P

Nowadays i dont even use a macro for this spell... i'll just cast it when its good for me. Most of the time its good for the illy with me. If im grouped with another wiz or warlock I tend to not use it much. As we all know, sorcerer bitching out performs any other classes.

and for the record the chanters love it, and the conjuror always say to the warlocks " what other 20k nuke is getting interupted " : )
