Default Manaburn & Fireshape - dump or keep?

Should I get rid of Manaburn? I've been raiding a lot, and I generally don't get to use it except on trash. I'm finding that for the named (longer) fights my mana isn't close enough to 100% for it to hit for enough damage...unless I'm missing something. I generally cast it near the end of a fight. I suppose I could cast it early in the fight at full mana, but I hate wasting that time afterward clicking on the power items to get enough mana to continue.

I'm spec'd for Iceshape, of course, but I've never used Fireshape. Should I look into spec'ing for this?

Would appreciate your thoughts.

You should have an illusionist to cast savante before you manaburn. 56% mana returned on cast (Master I).

Also you should have an illusionist to keep your mana up anyway.

Increase in AE Encounters = Full Fire&Ice > Having Manaburn at all.

Surge of Ro ticking off of solar wind is awesome.

Also the najena's ring turns bolts in to manaburns anyway. (w/o the power drain or immunity)

It depends if you have a mythical illy or mystic in your group, if you have a mystic have them cast roa on you befor you mb and you will have like 40% afterwards. this would allow you to cast it mid fight and still not worry about power. Also if you have an illy worth a damn you should be able to case mb at the end of a 20min fight. I havnt had an illy in a while so i think i may set up a mirror for raid days that i wont have one but I still notice some big gains on parses that i manaburn over ones i dont. But like you said if you find yourself not really using it much and never on named then maybe you should respec until you are able to mb after long fights.

I always have an illy (myth'ed), but during the longer fights my mana can go down to say, 80%. At that level, with as long as it takes to cast, it seems like it's not worth it unless you are close to 100% mana.

I just respec'd to full fire/ice, but it looks like the loss of manaburn is lowering my average dps.

Would be nice to hear from some more wizards as to their opinion...

If used with tinkering, pots and a whole bag of trix, with a good illy and troub to cap you all the time, MB can be very good. basicly you can spec electron storm 4 and glacial wind 5 and still run MB so ur not losing any aoe dps really.I only run one in Ro due to the fact at its best it has been 2% of my zw, my procs do better.. on a side note, without a master piece of team work from the same troub and illy and tinkering this can be the biggest pain in the ass ever to maintain, overall zw dps it runs real close to fire and ice even if you get this down to a artform. So unless you got a damn good troub and illy you can work with 100% of the time i would go with full fire and ice due to the overall zw dps. Im lucky enough to have these and with MB im able to assrape our assassin by 2-3k at times and get off 2 MB with full pwr on some name fights. Assraping the assassin for 2-3k makes it well worth to me so ill keep running it for now.

I'd keep Manaburn because its a fun spell. I'd rather watch things blow up in a massive burst of blueness than watch my fireball cast 0.3 seconds faster...

But then again, I'm really not a raiding wizzie...
