I'm not worried at all, anytime I go with a group, anywhere ; anytime I meet a wizard with my kind of equipment, I'm not overdpsed at all. I generally do.
I'll worry when I meet a guy who can do 12K when I do 8. (with same gear) but I never did.

The wizards who are able to overDPS me with 50% exist, but they ain't that numerous, and generally do not do PU groups - they are 95% their time with guildies - !
Nobody in my guild is able to do this zone with 12K (except, maybe, our warlock raid leader) this also suppose almost no wipe, right ? no wipe in rings, no wipe against named... if you found a group able to do that, we ain't at all in the same category.

P.S. in my 4 years of playing a wizard, i met ONCE a wizard doing 50% better than me, he was from Fable and had TC. He invited me in his group just to see how I was managing... we spoke after, but we cannot compare, just as if I were comparing my results and Dakkota's.
In the other hand i met a lot of wizard/warlock/illu/assassins and I was doing 50/75 % better, but not because I rock, just because my equipment is better than average.

One day invite me, let's start ACT and we will compare if you want. If you do 50% better, I quit. (not true, I wont, but I'll beat my wife to death)

First time that i'm writing somethin here, please ignore my bad english ;-)Only have one question to Dakkota, does it really make sense to start first with Storming Tempest

My normal spell order:

IceLash / IceShape > Icy Spears > Ring of Readiness > Storming Tempest > Ball of Magma > Freehand > Bolt of Ice > Fission....

I'm playing on Nagafen and normal using the PVP Chestplate, for Raid i'm using the Robe of Ancient Terror, i try out max out my base dmg, crit, aa (200) and think thats the key for dps. I still need better gear and on good fights i can do on a solo trash mob in palace up to 14k dps but thats not really often. Think with a full raid i can parse 10k on palcetrash everytime but it really depends on the whole raid, the average dps can be so different beetween 90k and 130k.

So with this casting order, if you get a resist on BoI/Fission while your Najena ring is running then you are fucked, because you won't have a chance to cast it again before the proc is gone. Or it would be pushing it at best.

My casting order looks something like this:

Pre-cast Velium Gift/Iceshape > Ro's Coil > Protofire(both are unresistable so I don't rage on people because debuffs aren't on yet) > Ice Spears > Storming Tempest > Hail Storm > Freehand > Trak Belt Clicky > Najena Ring(once I get the fuckin thing) > Fission > Bolt of Ice > Ball of Magma

My raid dps was usually around 10.5-11k zw in palace and my gear is mediocre at best, so I feel like it's not too shabby, but I dunno. I just got my TSO boots to go with my wrists, so we'll see how that goes!!! Of course it will go up a ton ZW once I get the najena ring though . I've run it about 120 times to ballpark it. /wrists

But really it's all about what you're comfortable doing. You have to kind of settle into a rhythm, I know all the raiding wizzies know what I'm talking about here. Yes, it's possible to have an offnight in EQ2! I know I'm not the #1 wiz WW or anything, but I've been playing it a long time and spent many raids trying everything I could possibly think of out. So just try out my casting order if you want and lemme know if it helps. But of course once you get past the starting rotation it's all about figuring out spell priorities in certain situations and graying out your hotbars accordingly. But to the OP, don't be frustrated. I used to parse around 3k too. We were all new at some point. Even Stivan and Dakkota .

Also to Aithanarid, ditch the Robe of Ancient Terrors . It only affects BoE, and the Shiny Metallic Robe > it even if you have TC and all that good stuff. At least it was for me .

If you are using the najena ring use freehand on bolt of ice, not fission tbh.

And yeah I was a bigger newb than any people here posting were. See most "newbs" here atleast understand the concept of MMO gameplay...I didn't at all. It was scary. But I learn games quick

I love reading these post. Gives me something to look forward too. I think I've broken 4k dps on a raid a few times. We're not VP geared or even flagged yet. So I feel I'm doing rather well with my convoluted casting order and game style. Seeing as I really need some better gear to ratchet up the DPS some.

So to the OP - don't feel like a shitty Wizard. It all comes with gear and time.

Lol I hear you Dakkota. At one time I thought it was all about trying to get 1240 intelligence in a raid and crit didn't matter . But I as well learn quick. Anyway, why free hand BoI instead? With my 2 set on, fission still has about 1k higher damage on both ends for me. Not arguing, just curious. Either I'm missing something or it's different for me due to gear.

With najena ring Fission counts as an AoE and gets 1/3 the spell damage added while bolt of ice gets full on spell damage added. Always seems to have more potential for bolt of ice than fission....if ring is up. Just my speculation though!


ps. Of course I always freehanded fission if it was a mob of 3 plus, I didn't mention i meant single targets only for that bit.
