Currently using Robe of Disciple + 6 set. After this last update, I was wondering if anyone has had a chance to test using the Hood of the Lightning Rider + 6 set.

Dropping the avatar robe for the hat, one would lose 2 crit bonus, the 10 second proc (with an unmodifiable trigger) for 5 base and 5 crit bonus and wee damage. Going with the hat would gain 100 spell damage, fulltime 15 base to ball of flames, and a guaranteed damage proc on every spell that can hit for decent numbers (last I heard it was still hitting the same.)

Maybe I am just overreacting to the recent change. Has anyone else thought of this or tried it yet? I would like to try this myself, but we have only got around 4 everliving chests all xpac and I let other people who needed them pick them up.

Using the Ancient robe + set helm (counting proc) gives you a total of 14 crit bonus (9 passive). Using the Set BP + HoLR gives 8 crit bonus total passive. You can potentially double your crit bonus from using the Ancient robe + set helm. You also lose a potential 9% cast reuse (4% on helm, 5% on robe proc) and gain none back. You gain 15% base to ball of fire...but lose a proc for 5% base to every spell plus everything you crit (fairly certain). If the hood still crits, the damage proc im sure beats Ancient robes no doubt. If it doesn't crit...well that sucks =p

Biggest factors to me in using the robe + set helm would be having double potential for crit bonus and the avatar nerfs screwed over enough reuse, I wouldn't drop another 9% for the other things. Thats just me though.
