Default Wizard AA points

There seems to be no thread here to discuss how to best distribute AA's so thought I would post something asking for opinions.

At the moment I am only 52 so I haven't progressed a long way to blowing stuff up in a big way. I have 56 AA's and am currently putting 30% of adventure xp towards aaxp.

My profile is at EverQuest II Players - Achievements for Kodos and would love any suggestions how I should change it up.

Thanks

You can't have looked very hard.

Halfway down the page is Wizard AA Leveling (inb4 read the sticky)
Guy asks for best AA spec for levelling, which at 52 should help you also.

And STICKIED at the top is READ THIS FIRST: Consolidated Wizard Thread.
Contains everything you need to know. One link is to the Wizard DPS Guide. Which contains a comprehensive guide to dpsing (obviously) and included is a detailed AA guide.

Im looking over your shit, and one question comes to mind. What is it, exactly, you want to change?

Your AA is a mix of defense/offense. Now, I'll just start assuming here but since you just got the money shot , aka Ice Comet 1 , you're liking that fat hit but seem to have leaned towards defense as you inevitably rip aggro right after it ( and if youre anything like i was, thats :05 sec into the fight) and then take a bunch of hits from mobs.

I could be way off base here but I'm just sayin. If this is the case then I would suggest to you to drop the defense altogether and spec according to our well-documented raid spec. Keep the offense up and adapt a "kill or be killed" mentality to rule the top parse in groups. A small bit of advice here would be to go ahead and take an aggressive targetting stance. Lazy tanks have a habit of not targetting mobs that dont hit them I've noticed. You'll want to be on top of the situation. Plus, healers may whine but the good ones secretley love the challenge of keeping a wiz up.

And be warned, you're not doing it right unless youre on the edge of death extremely often.

Now, if you are asking for a mainly soloing spec, then I'd say youre doin fine as you are. good mix of defense/offense. That battlemage stuff you have will help you out as you perfect the nuances of the class that only experience can teach.

Mainly our AA's are common sense. I.E. Not too hard to figure out.
Take some time and look over any that you have a question about and you'll prolly be able to decide how you want to proceed.

Of course when you get tired of playing by yourself those defensive capabilities should be the first thing to go. You are a wizard. You are the big fucking gun.

but jaul, then we would be bored cause we wouldn't have any questions to answer, even though the answer is always "read the sticky, we promise the answer is in there"

Nice one smartass. Maybe if some of the topics in that thread were a bit more obvious I wouldn't have asked. Maybe if guide to DPS was AA setup or something similar then I wouldn't be asking questions.

If you have nothing intelligent to say, say nothing.

Thanks for reply SacDaddy. I mostly solo because I am an Aussie in a US based guild so not many people on when I am playing of a night and I don't have many friends. That's why I have manashield as such for when root breaks and I can't get it too stick right away.

When I hit 80 I may make this my main instead of monk or SK and therefore will prob work more on a pure killing machine but for now I think I may need a little defensive abilities.

Thanks again

I admit I missed that first link and I should have looked more carefully. That 2nd link I did see but chose to ignore as it specifically says its a guide for raiding wizards which I am not, and probably will never be. maybe I could have looked at it but it didn't seem appropriate. I shall have a look at it later tonight.

Thanks

Yep, it is for raiding wizard of course, but IMO it MUST be read by anyone who wants DPS.
Just like SacDaddy said it " Keep the offense up and adapt a "kill or be killed" mentality to rule the top parse in groups" you are a glass canon, be a big big big canon.

I have DPS AAs 99% of time, I have solo ones with manashield when I really need to be protected soloing a quest with a mob who can't be rooted.
When I go thru a hard zone with a group of friends and a tank who cannot hold agro, I have gear with displacement and that kind of protection.

You need a total of 1 spec as a wizard in this game...that which yields the highest parse. Regardless if you are a hard core raider, a daily instance runner, or a casual soloer...you chose to play a wizard, a dps'ing glass cannon. You drop bombs on target and hope like hell not to get caught in the back blast. Any time you could possibly need assistance to kill something, using the phone-a-friend option or just asking in level chat is far superior to anything that you could get for support from an AA mirror. Speaking from my experience only, all lowering my dps does for a solo scenario is lessen the odds that I can put forth more damage than whatever is trying to kick my ass.

If rooting and nuking is too difficult then you may want to consider re-rolling another class, and I'm not stating this is the "you suck, don't play a wizard" manner. Its just that root / nuke, while one of the most effective means of soloing in game always ends up the same way....either you or the mob will die at the end of it, and as a wizard,...it wont take much for you to lose.
