Default Wizard Maximum Damage Potential

Doing some math over the past fews days concerning optimal spell queues. There seems to be an absolute wall that Wizards are able to hit with their spell queues. Hitting this wall, by merely casting all of the refreshed top DPS casts, then places our DPS in the hands of our gear and group setup. Am I right in assuming this?

There's obviously other smaller factors, such as timing issues (mispressed keys, lag, etc) and precasts (there's only so much precasting that can be done.) But it seems to me that there's a point where Wizard skill cuts off, and the group setup and gear kick in. I'm just curious as to everyone else's take on this.

I'd be glad to elaborate on any of these points, but I didn't want to make this post too longwinded. Don't beat my ass too hard.

Also, I've generated this spreadsheet, and would like any constructive criticism (which I'm sure I'll get alot of) anyone would like to input. Note: The link requires Microsoft Excel, until a final version can be posted.

Not able to look at your spreadsheet right now, but I definately just hit a wall occationally in fights, having no spells but sunstrike up. It's quite frustrating...

edit: it's worth mentioning that besides the agi line, I have no other recast enhancements, so that's part of my problem.

I don't want the intent of this thread to be understated: Dextera is heading in the right direction with this. Most of my ideas about wizard dps derive from a similar spreadsheet I have in my possession, though more elaborate.

Thanks Illuminator, one of the primary ideas of this post was to merely find out, or derive, the solid DPS barrier that a Wizard can achieve. One where, no matter how much "skill" one Wizard has over another, he is unable to achieve anymore DPS. I'm sure this barrier can be discovered because afterall EQ2 is a numbers game.

Example: In a 60s fight, what is the absolute maximum average amount of damage a Wizard with no proc gear can obtain?

My spreadsheet has yet to factor in crits and considers the mob takes only 100% of the displayed spell damage, so I came up with the number of ~1,323 DPS. A similar spreadsheet could even be made for other classes, resulting in good DPS comparisons on duration of fights. Further derivation of this formula could be very useful when it comes in to equipment and buff issues.

The maximum limit will change depending on the exact number of enemies you are facing. Firestorm on a single target is at the end of spell queue. Toss in another enemy or two, and you have a very different story.

Of course. I haven't edited the spreadsheet yet to calculate multiple mobs.
