Default Re: Ethereal Legacy - I give it 2 months

I'll shed some light on what went down between me and Edob for those that really want to know. I was playing Vanguard and it was dreadfully boring, and every now and then I would hop onto the EQ2 ventrilo to see how things were going with people. I was pretty happy when I heard that some of the oldschool EL players had returned to the game. I was particularly happy about seeing Pawn, Crabbok, Nindelote, Elizdivine, Reef, Sorbic, Tiger, Zerr, and Ratxman on the roster.

When I was talking with people on ventrilo I let them know that I was utterly bored on Vanguard and a bunch of them said that I should come back to EQ2. I played a few raids for the first time in about 9 months and I was once again hooked to the 24 man raid scene. Vanguard was basically 1 group content of the same 2-3 zones for the last 5 months so it wasn't really hard to let that game go. And so it began ... I came back to EQ2 right around the time my bro stopped playing due to real life stuff. My bro Chris was another major reason that I came back to EQ2. He was extremely happy about the game and the guild and wanted nothing more than for us to be able to once again lead it to it's former glory.

Well things were going great for the first week or so ... and then a few problems came up between me and Edob. We were more or less "stepping on eachother's toes" all the time. I would do something and she would freak out, saying "I promised these people this and that, and this, and you are going against these things." The first incident involved me inviting a friend from Vanguard to the guild. I come here and am told that we only need one class for the entire guild and we are set, so I had an officer from EL on Vanguard come over and buy that class, which was a troubador. Let's just say there was a major shitstorm over me inviting him, and I thought I was doing the guild a favor!

After a bunch of drama I end up kicking my friend. It was really shitty because he came to this game because he was a good friend of mine and wanted to continue being guilded with me. So many people in the guild said "oh em gee we need another troubador" and when I told him that we had the demand for that class, he had no hesitation and went out and bought one. Just like that. He wanted to do what was best for the guild ... even though he wanted to play a healer at first, he was considerate and got what the guild wanted/needed.

The next incident involved me taking out 2 T6 manas out of the guild bank "without asking." I brought it up in Ventrilo that I took them out and Edob once again freaked out on me, saying that the guild bank is sacred and that by doing that I was undermining everything that she promised to the people that joined the guild. I argued that as the MAIN TANK of the guild I needed to be equipped as good as possible, and that it shouldn't be a big deal that I was getting some damn adornments made. This argument escalated to the point where she said she was leaving the guild. After a couple hours of deliberation, I was able to talk her into staying. It seemed really selfish to me that the whole guild would have to suffer because of two T6 manas that could EASILY be replaced, in fact they were replaced by T7 manas.

So she said ... I will stay, but we really gotta go over some stuff and make sure things are right. I said okay, I agreed with her completely on this. If the guild was going to succeed, we needed both leaders to be able to meet eye to eye on stuff. "I will stay but you have to promise me that from now on ... we will go over everything together. Whether it is something as small as demoting someone, inviting someone to the guild, or withdrawing anything out of the guild bank. Anything that affects the guild as a whole, we need to go over first together." I told her that I would promise to that only if she would stop throwing the "I made this guild what it is today" comment at me every time we disagreed on something. It really pissed me off when she made such a bogus claim about creating the guild. I created the damn guild in January 05 on Faydark server. You look on the EL website and what does it say "ONLY 3 weeks since being reformed, EL is already dominating the server!" So in one sense she wants to brag about how great the guild is after only being formed for such a short period of time. But then in the other sense, she goes off saying that she formed the guild through alot of hard work and dedication.

This sent me really mixed signals. But fuck it. Things were different now, and I wanted to do what was best for the guild. So I agreed. "I promise." And that was that. We promised that we would go over everything together as leaders, and that she would stop making the comment about creating the guild. And then ....

BAM

2 days later, we are in Emerald Halls. An earring drops with 10 deflection on it and Pawn brings up in Ventrilo how it should go to a brawler. I full heartedly agreed since brawlers are the only damn class in game with the 10 deflection skill! Well, because of this debate, Wuoshi's Heart decayed in the chest. It's some sort of bug I guess where it only lasts for 20 minutes. Well I got blamed for that. If it wasn't for me starting the debate on why that earring should go to brawlers, the heart never would have decayed. Me and Edob once again started arguing ... this time my point was that for loot, it was based off of officer discretion who can bid on what. Her point was that by me arguing with her, I was once again going against what she promised the guild. Well I said that it should go to brawlers and she completely over rided me. Vent crashed and she went in guild chat saying "OKAY THIS IS FINAL! EARRING IS BEING BID OUT TO SCOUTS AND BRAWLERS! ENOUGH WITH THE DEBATE!!!"

Whatever, screw it. It should have gone to a brawler. And I didn't make a big deal about it either. I didn't get all emotional when Edob just ignored my input and came to a decision. The reason for this is simple ... I don't like drama in the guild I am in. I was willing to just chalk it up for the sake of everybody else. And that was that. The earring got bid out and a brawler ended up winning on a roll, everybody was happy. Or so I thought ...

After the raids are over and everything was said and done, I told the officers I was gonna log off and finish downloading beta. "Seeya later Kal." And so I went to finish downloading it. Then a couple hours later I get a phone call from Warsong asking me to log into Ventrilo. Sounded kinda wierd but I was like sure. So I log on Ventrilo and Edob says "Kal ... the guild voted that you should step down as a leader." I'm just completely taken aback by that, like WTF?

I say no, hell no, I ain't stepping down from shit. "Well sorry but I already demoted you." Wow is all I could say. So much for keeping promises huh? So much for going over everything together as leaders before making any hasty decisions that would affect the guild as a whole, right!? Then Ukob comes into the channel and starts running his retarded ass fucking mouth about how this is a democracy and there is nothing I can do about it and to stfu and nobody gives a fuck about what I have to say. This dude is the dumbest douchebag I have ever heard on a game so I just logged out of ventrilo.

And I did some research about this alleged vote to have me step down from leader to an officer. ( What's the big fucking difference anyway? Edob gets final say so on shit with me as an officer whereas we were supposed to agree on it with me being a leader? HAHAHA. ) Turns out a bunch of people weren't even online for this vote, and that it wasn't even a vote to begin with! From what I heard, I was demoted, and by that time it was too late. It was basically "yeah, he is demoted. You can either be dramatic about it or not be." And who would want to be now that I was no longer a leader that could protect people who would speak out for me? I got fucking robbed of my rank by a backstabbing liar. So I bring it up in guild chat ... get warned that I am being dramatic and am breaking the rules. RULES.

GIMME A FUCKING BREAK. So I don't shut up, I continue going on about how me be ninja demoted while offline was complete bullshit. They call certain people who know they will agree with them and anybody who would have had my back on the issue was just "forgotten" to be contacted. It was a conspiracy, and I got booted.

The End.

Why does he have the same name as Shoe's old Ranger?

oh and to Kalidon and other tyranical loot distributors!! Why not just make dkp bidding open to everyone on everything? If someone is retarded enough to bid on something that they can't use and isn't a upgrade... should they be raiding with, let alone make it past being a probie with you in the first place?

Don't trust your members enough to know what the fuck their doing? Maybe buy a new recruitment officer that screens out the fucktards then?

btw! I regret never getting to raid in EL after I got my new computers I know I could beat Flupa, damn you Crabbok!

Vanguard was a fucking let down....

Here is the reality... Unless you are simply defeated or something why not just start a guild and litteraly hand edob her ass? I certainly would have... We all know guild structure is nothing its the people that make it what it is... You couldnt get enough to leave?? Fuck most of EL are people that guild hopped anyway save Crabbok and maybe a couple of others... Im sure there is more to this but still... that would fucking inspire me to put much effort into making Edob's life a living hell.

Allow me to anwser this... sometimes people are selfish enough not to care if its not the best for them given the other stats... When it comes to rare items to classes that dont receieve alot of loot (like it used to be for brawlers no idea now.) Then what you open up dkp so some fucktard who has been sitting out for most raids (but you may need him just in case contested mobs spawn during off hours.) outbids someone who is in every raid and has almost as much dkp as that other guy but just so happens that the brawler has 5 less or so dkp than said fucktard.... Keep in mind this brawler may go through weeks of not getting something ... The item is only marginally better for said fucktard but hugely better for the brawler... Fucktard wins and brawlers gets super discouraged pissed and who knows may slack off for the rest of the raid could even talk about quitting... becuase honestly in eq2 saldy thats the norm if something doesnt go your way....

Sounds like a big what if right?? This actually happened and similiar things happened all the time in t5 until I decided enough was enough with this open bidding fair bullshit from now on you can only bid if it really is an upgrade for you becuase thats whats best for the raid which is best for everyone which in the end means EVERYONE gets more loot becuase we are that much stronger... Fair like your saying Rinny is for the weak and only causes problems... I dont know the details in Kalidons case but just reading it for face value it and given the fact it did indeed have a stat scouts didnt even benefit from sounds fair to me... regardless the above really is why you dont do open bidding... no matter how good people are peopla can be selfish bastards and make descions for the good of them and not for the raid... this way you dont even let them embaress themseleves.

I was so disgusted with how the situation was handled that I have given up entirely. People can flame me for that if they want ... but I have been leader of EL for 5 years. To have it stripped away so inconsiderately over "1 month of hardcore work" and for GM's to tell me there is nothing I can do about it ... just really pisses me off. Lesson learned though. GM's said "It is your responsibility to pick leaders that you can trust and that will not turn around and stab you in the back." Sadly I had nothing to do with making Edob leader ... if I would have been the one that first came back instead of my bro, it never would have happened.

I have no desire to get revenge or try to take down the guild that I created. All I wanted is for Edob to go and make a new guild but obviously that was asking too much. And it fucking pisses me off that Morphias has some garbage shitty rank when I looked at the roster on eq2players. FUCKING BULLSHIT.

Dude I'm sorry everything turned out the way it did. If you ever decide to come back you will always be welcome bro. It was a period of high tension, and in those times people tend to alwasy say and do things that they regret.

We as a whole have no personaly issues with you, in fact your our brother, our comrade, our friend. I know it might be difficult for you to come back, but I'd love to see you back.

And in regards to the earring that drops from Woushi, it didn't just have deflection, but also had a DPS modifier on it. In fact it's a damn good earring. True it's good for a brawler, but it also is good for a scout. In the past we have bid things that have good skills that multiple classes need, and bid it out to multiple classes. We try to remain consistent on that. If the earring ONLY had deflection, then it woudl have been different, but being that it had Deflection AND DPS modifier, that made it a good item for more than JUST brawlers. BTW there was only 1 brawler in raid so he woudl have gotten it for minimum, which is slightly unfair when other classes wanted it.

This same exact thing happened for all the times weve had the Crit robe drop from avatars. It has deflection, but also has a crit proc. Those robes were bid to scouts AND brawlers. And Kal, you yourself said that you wanted to bid on the reinforced slippers of Balance, (leather tanking boots). Granted they don't have deflection, but it is still a similar situation. Best item in game for brawler, but also very good for other classes. Were just trying to remain consistent with policy.
Many of these policies were stablished before you returned from Vanguard. That is mostly where the problem lied. You came back with the best of intentions, but I think you did clash a bit with the current establishment. I noticed it a few times, but didn't feel it was that big of an issue.

I feel maybe the whole situation coudl have been resolved differently however. I always feel that Open, honest communication is the best way to resolve conflict. Anyways I miss ya bro. Hope life is treating you well!

Open honest communication ftw! Going behind my back and demoting me while offline after promising something like that would never happen ftl. I got no hard feelings with most of the members but there is no way I would ever be guilded with Edob again. I do wish you guys the best of luck though.

By the way Crabbok, you may have forgotten when I told you this, but I did tell you that I would pass on those boots to you if the other tanks were cool with it. At one point yes I did say I would bid on them but the next time they got brought up I said I got no problem with Crabbok getting them.
