This is a good point. I got THREE EMAILS and 2 PMs, all from different people, about the pic Maria posted. That is the equivalent of a user red alert. So it wasn't just Calthine who thought the pic was obscene and pornographic.
You know how often I get emails and reports about people's posts? There are only two types really.
Type 1 is the person who feels embarrassed about a situation they caused and wants to "make it all go away" or escape the consequences of thier stupidity and asks me to delete a post or thread. I refuse to do delete those posts every time, we don't do that here.
Type 2 is an email or PM from someone who sees a NSFW pic posted on this site. About a month ago, when someone posted a pic of a man squatting, with his colon extending out his anus, I got one PM. Also about a month ago, when someone posted a link to a video of a man jacking off a horse and then twisting quickly and inserting the horse's penis in his anus, I also got one PM.
5 user reports is significant, and means to me that at least 5 different people, plus Calthine, considered what Maria posted to be in violation of the Site Rules.
Let's summarize where we are:
-I don't care if you don't see a difference between swear words and sexually oriented, graphically explicit pictures. I do, and a great majority of the rest of the "PG" and "R" rated forums on the Internet do also.
-The definition of what is pornographic and obscene on this site is not negotiable. It is not subject to your opinion. It would defeat the purpose of even having a NSFW rule if we had to allow a user vote to determine whether every pic posted was NSFW or not, wouldn't it?
-I don't have time to seek community census before deleting every obscene and graphically explicit sexually related photo that is ever posted on this site. I have better things to do. As discussed, one person must be in charge of the decision about what is and is not allowed. That person is me. I'm going to continue doing the same thing in the future, regardless of whether you disagree with me or not.
-It is true I have only warned people in the past on a first offense for posting pics that violate how I interpret the Site Rules. I probably would have only deleted the pic, and warned Maria, had I gotten to the pic first when the user alarm started going off. Nonetheless, I shortened Calthine's ban of Maria to a three day suspension, because she made that call and I am going to support it by at least reducing it to a minimum penalty, as I did.
-But then Maria began flagrantly violating additional rules on this site and posting about how he didn't have to follow rules and would continue to attack this site after being suspended. So I perma banned him and his IP numbers, and will continue to delete everything he posts in the future, whenever he logs on from a friend's comp and wants to show us how much he needs attention and how little his mother loved him.
-In the two months this site has been active, I've only banned 4 people. Each were intent on harming this site, or were doing extremely stupid shit like uploading beta screens in violation of the NDA. That's why I banned them. I've deleted text only twice so far I believe - once was a user using specific racial slurs against black people, and the other was the post Maria just made by making another user account. I'll continue deleting everything Maria posts from new accounts and all the IP numbers he uses. Truly, this is far more work and hassle for him than for me.
-I realize Maria may be a friend to those posting in his defense, but your friend is a fucking retard and his need for attention has gotten past the point of annoyance. Do you condone what he's doing now? Why are you still supporting him?
-I will continue enforcing the Site Rules as they are written now. I will continue issuing warnings and penalties at my discretion, but in the future will generally issue a 3 day suspension rather than a warning for first offenses related to the posting of porn pics.
That's pretty much it. If you want to contribute, write NSFW rules for community review. If you want to continue typing, feel free to do that also.
