But please just make an informed call and review the offense?

Ya, first, me and you are cool. I never carry a grudge except when people take things too far and burn bridges.
Second, I've had a lot of time to think about this driving over the last 3 days, and I've asked Calthine in the future, instead of hitting the "physically remove" button under the Admin edit option, to hit the "Delete Message" option instead.
The "Delete Message" option won't physically remove the offending message, but will instead make it invisible to everyone except admins. Then, the other admin will have the opportunity to also look at the message and give a second opinion if needed.
I like to have checks and balances so there is at least one other credible person with power who can support what I'm saying if needed. So I'm going to do the same thing myself, and will also just "admin delete" rather than "physically remove" bad posts in the future, and Calthine will be able to review any Admin decisions I make about removing content.
On vBulletin software, this only works if the entire message is removed rather than merely edited, so Calthine and I will be more likely to "delete" an entire message with a bad picture than merely edit out the picture from the post. I'm not going to delete a 3000 word message to edit out someone's RL phone number however, some things will still have to rely upon discretion, I'd be inclined to just edit out the name or phone number to solve the problem in that situation.
But when Calthine or I delete a message in the future, we will use the notes field for that and include a 3 to 4 word description of why the message was deleted.
BTW, this really isn't a major deal, I'm pretty sure there have been no more than six posts deleted from this site in total in the two months we've been up. Its just that rare extreme bullshit like this ends up taking hours and hours of time, and needs to be planned and defined more than anything else.
I'm not sure either of us would ever reverse the other, but at least we'd be able to physically see what the other removed and could then discuss it better than has happened in this case.
Like I said, we are cool. Had Maria not gone nuts, this would all be behind us now and forgotten. But based on what he did after this happened, I can't forgive him. I lifted a ban against an earlier user recently after he sent me a sincere, believable apology, the problem is Maria took it too far in this case. I can forgive anyone eventually, if I really believe they've learned a lesson and won't repeat the behavior, unless they start taking aggressive actions to harass me or this site after they've been suspended or banned.
Also, after further thought, I've asked Calthine in the future to MOSTLY warn on a first "content" offense, issue a 3 day suspension for a 2nd offense, and perma ban on the third. I'm going to do the same. Like I said, however, Maria wasn't banned for content, but for what happened after he got suspended, so this doesn't apply to him.
Regarding your question about the Vanguard site, it's all installed here:
www.vanguardflames.com
www.vgflames.com
But I need to set it up, design it, and customize it over the next few weeks before I can announce it, it's a plain vanilla installation atm. Also, toggle between the green and blue skin on that site and let me know which you prefer.
