Before we leave this subject completely, I wanted to address the concern that I'm "pulling a Starry", interpreting LFG's rules as I see fit. I'm not at all upset about y'all expressing that, because MiB behavior is why many of EQ2Flames' membership abandoned the Official Forums, and it's a legitimate concern. I do not ever, ever want to resemble the MiB.
Most days, you know, Admining this site is a cakewalk. Once or twice a week I give someone a custom title. I might have to remind someone of the sig size restrictions. Maybe enforce an OP's call for back on topic. 99.9% of the time this site just about runs itself. The rules are very loose and allow for darn near anything.
But when something that calls for "mod-like action" comes up, I do
nothing without informing LFG what I'm doing. It's HIS site, they're HIS rules, and I just work here. His word is always final. I have no ego about my position here, and flexing my Admin doesn't give me any kind of power trip. I actually don't like having to do it. My call on how to act when the rules need enforcing is
always filtered through the discussions LFG and I have had. But someone still has to make the call, and when LFG's not around, it's me. LFG, btw, is excellent to work for - he's a great communicator. But even he can't predict everything that
might happen, and we don't want to have a bunch of unnecessary rules "just in case".
We're working very hard to make sure he and I are on the same page when it comes to having to do "mod-like action." Before maria, the worst thing I've had to do in the seven weeks I've worked here was ban someone for linking 20+ Beta pics during the NDA. The Admin Guidelines have, as a result of this, been firmly adjusted, and you will see me act accordingly if I'm required to enforce the rules again.
