I have been debating posting information in this thread for a while, but decided to post in here in a “buyers beware” approach to warning others about The Dominion, and their raiding practices.

I have been in several raids with the Dominion, and recently have seen them continue to try and do pickup raids as opposed to doing a couple of things like PLAN and PREPARE for the raids they host. Every single raid I have been on has been absolutely piss poor planned, run so half assed I think Cerwinos might have given better raid instructions and setup groups better. Having Cerwinos guilded in this guild might have improved their raiding prospects because he probably would have tanked the mobs better then they do.

Case in point? I will list several lurid examples. The initial poster did a great job of displaying their raid leaders ability (or inability) to actually put together a raid that made sense (notice 6 fighter classes in one group?). I attached (hopefully its displayed below) an image of their next preferred FTH raid setup. Their setup 1) makes no freakin sense save for maybe group 4, and 2) I know that group won’t crack 5k dps even in that setup. Valanthe with a fury and troub could do about as much dps as that whole group listed there.

Now for other ways to back up what I am saying.

Raid Experience (or disaster as you may decide) 1…

Just prior to the RoK expansion, the night before, I tried to help out the guild by giving them access to an AoAx4 raid zone (Note: the fact that the guild didn’t have access to the zone should have been a warning bell to me….but nooooo). I played a templar, and had some guildies come along (a defiler, coercer, and a brigand). One of the players, an SK from their guild, wiped the raid 10 times on the first set of trash mobs just going into the zone! Why, you might ask? Because he couldn’t hold agro off the fuckin HEALERS when he pulled. He complained that he had no abilities to get good snap agro for a pull on a 2 mob encounter (I was like you’re an SK WTF).

About a month prior to the RoK expansion I was asked to play a dirge (lvl 70 at 100 aas) on a FTH raid to help out Dominion. I logged on and was greeted to a sight of only 3 groups having a healer in it, and a total of 5 healers in the raid. The raid wiped due to poor communication by the RL 4 times just when throwing the first bone. The raid had to pop a mender bot just prior to pulling the first named in FTH because 70% of the raids gear was already broken from the first 3 trash encounters. I sent a private tell to the raid leader asking if he had repair kits, or the necessary pots to hand out for the treyloth fight, or a viable strategy for the second named in the zone with his raid setup….his response was he entered the raid zone not expecting to beat the first named in the zone. The Dominion posts their “raids” aka slaughter fests a week ahead of time, yet in that time period he didn’t think it was important to prepare for a raid so they might have a chance at winning?

The moral of this post…..beware raiding with The Dominion unless you really enjoy dieing a lot…in that case just jump off a cliff in Sinking Sands and mail Valanthe 50 gold…this way you still come out ahead and actually might have time to do something meaningful. Also to The Dominion...be careful what you wish for because you might actually get it

Secondly, before taking FS's post to heart consider the following:
Prior to Nekhebet and myself joining The Dominion they did not raid NEARLY as extensively as they do now (if they raided at all...and we're talking city writ raids here). As a guild with little to no raiding background, having the desire was good. Having the desire to raid was great for them. Every single member of The Dominion has pushed to be better at what they do (and they've succeeded thus far)

Keep in mind that no amount of planning can actually MAKE people show up to a raid. You may PLAN to get every person that you have on a raid, but truth being as a non-hardcore raid guild this is just not really something that happens.

The initial poster was a member of The Dominion you idiot. And CLEARLY this raid was a joke, and was meant to be silly and fun (and god damn it fucking was)....the raid was not actually set up as an actual raid.

Poor communication....let's keep in mind that every raid you've attempted to "help" The Dominion on you've basically come in and without asking said, "okay this is what you do" totally degrading the raid leader to begin with, and being completely obnoxious about it the entire time.

Also note I never said The Dominion people were bad people or bad players, I just said don't attend their Pickup raids unless you like massive repair bills and debt.

<p>Planning CAN make people show up for raids.

First it's called organizing before a raid. This can be simple as talking with people prior to see if certain people and important classes are going to be there. This also makes them feel more like they will be missed if they don't show.

Second, if you are going to be missing some key classes that help out on raids...establish communications with other non-guildies and try to line up outside raid support if you can.

Third, proper planning allows faster raid progression in a raid zone so people WANT to come to your raids versus zerg dying constantly on a trash mob in FTH.

Lastly, knowing how to raid and such is more influenced by the raid leader knowing (or at least partially understanding) how to organize a raid. This will allow you a better chance of winning the raid AND again have people come back to raid with you more often. </p>

The last thing I want to note is that the examples I gave where NOT said to be incorrect or wrong...and that the information I posted is 100% accurate. Now, a non-guildie is trying to defend the raiding practices of a guild who wipes on the first trash mob in AoAX4 yet claims to clear lyceum and Labs with ease. That's retarded.
