Re: How NOT to Recruit in EQ2 - a special from Mortimor
OP is retarded - 1 star.
It certainly appears to me that you told him you'd be open to betray. I tried to apply your answer to one of his other questions, but it doesn't seem applicable to any other part of the conversation.
Also, next time, check the "Disable smilies in text" option when posting logs. Looking at the time stamps would have been useful in figuring out what the fuck you were talking about.

Re: How NOT to Recruit in EQ2 - a special from Mortimor
As a reminder to all users, please check the "don't display smilies" box when you post a log. I can go back in and do it as I did for the OP, but I don't read every post.

Without smilies, looking at the time stamps, it looks as though you might be continuing your previous answer.
But if you can't understand why he thought you said you'd be willing to betray, then I don't know what to tell you.

Re: How NOT to Recruit in EQ2 - a special from Mortimor
From reading the text and knowing the poster and the rep of the recruiting guild, you're misreading the text.
Here you have a good player who was an Illusy, who betrayed months back to a coercer and geared out his spells and is talking to a raiding guild about moving servers, paying 50 bucks and being told that his class is pointless. The OP was considering betraying IF the guild would pick up his a3s, which is a very valid asking.
The 2 biggest issues i see here are, the recruiter backtracking from "We can cover those spells to , we can possibly do that" and telling the OP that coercers are "pointless". Coercers are far from a pointless class and pretty damn vital to raiding guilds. But if they wanted an Illusy, just say it.

Re: How NOT to Recruit in EQ2 - a special from Mortimor
OK so maybe I should have made it an easier read, since so much was missed, but here is the point of the whole thing, and I will backtrack for all of you.
I posted on EQ2Flames that i would be willing to do a transfer to another server and even in the subject box it says 80/134 Coercer - not Illusy. I then receive the tells - yes I said that there would be a possibility, but no guarantees from me, but I wanted a guarantee that if I did come over, that I would be compensated to betray for them.
At the bottom of my last post, all I meant was - where in my original post did I say I wanted to be an illusionist - not from this post. Maybe I should have made it a bit more "dumbed down" so all the kiddies could follow along.
I just didn't appreciate being told that the coercer class is pointless - talk to the other 35 guilds that sent me tells that day that wanted a LVL 80 Raid Coercer.
And think to yourself, if you are a recruiter, would you expect a person do a good job at another class, and be raid ready right away, or even be ready for RoK Raid Instances?
And last to those who asked why I even posted here, um .... this is a rant forum is it not? I don't like being told that my class is pointless, and figured others would feel the same.

He said it right there. Sure he took a moment for small talk, which is nice, and then asked about Illy.
A Coercer IS an Illy and vice versa. Since you can make one into the other, why not ask a Coercer as well, if you need an Illy in the end. Its not like he is asking a Ranger when he wants an Illy.
Also, he says that A3 "can be an option upon acceptance, and he is sure he acn get it done" to "I can't promise it, but can probably make it happen" is damn near the same. He of course has to run it by his GL or whatever council they use, all A3 isn't chump change is it?
I don't think he meant an insult, but it wasn't the best thing to say about worthlessness.
I think it's all being read into too much.

Re: How NOT to Recruit in EQ2 - a special from Mortimor
/agree
The dude wasn't unreasonable at all. He was very up front, and asked right away. The OP even agreed to betray under the right circumstances, then flipped out when the word "pointless" was mentioned later in the conversation.
I smell a schizophrenic.
My mind has not been changed in the least, the OP is retarded. And to any potential guilds; caveat emptor.

Re: How NOT to Recruit in EQ2 - a special from Mortimor
Worst flame in a while ... I've recruited before, and i've asked people if they were willing to betray. If those people say no, and i was only looking for that class i politely move on and tell em if they are interested in the future in us to check back but otherwise we're not looking for em. No need to get bent out of shape from anyone involved.

Re: How NOT to Recruit in EQ2 - a special from Mortimor
*buzzer*
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEH. (that's a buzzer sound)
Scoundril wasn't intentionally upsetting you. A coercer is an unnecessary part of the raid format, an illusionist brings more to the table. Gimped hate gain is NOT enough to justify being equal to the haste, IA, TC on one of the mt healers, etc. It's SoE's fault for fucking the chanter class up so badly that one side of it is so unneeded, but it doesn't make it any less true.
I've gotten a LOT of *awful* recruiting attempts, so I was hoping this thread would deliver, but it doesn't. I've had people get MAD at me when I asked them why I should join their guild, some people ARE stupid recruiters.
Scoundril is a great player and a cool person, untie your panties and get off your horse. He was trying to explain to you why they want an illusionist not a coercer. As a MT myself I prefer an illu. You fucked up tbh, D12 is a great guild with really great people.
