I noticed after coming back to LDL that Strike had a very helpful and generous attitude toward the members of other guilds. I thought this was great, and I wish more servers were like this.
It shows how much the server appreciates Strike, too. I remember one day recently that Stonestrong needed a raid to help with something. Several guilds joined in to help (I remember OOBM and Unsung and a few others as well). I was there too.
Also the fact that the way Strike is treated in world chat (freindly without resentment) also speaks worlds of good things.
This is great and I wish more high-end raiding guilds had such a good attitude toward their server community.
However, I noticed on more than one occasion, either in world chat or guild chats a wide range of comments that frustrated me such as: "I know we'll never clear T8, so hopefully Strike will let me go with them to..."
Again that's really not a big deal. So that's not my point either.
What brought me to post about Strike is that I think guilds like OOBM rely on you too much. They really seem to love and respect the members of Strike, this is a great thing, but it crosses over into their inability to learn how to lead and run a raiding guild well.
I think this is why OOBM is stuck. They have some members caught up in politicing with Strike, and some members trying to be independent and making their own way. Neither is wrong. I'm not saying that, but Strike does play a role. And while I believe there is much good coming from it, my comment about enabling was a point of frustration because I noticed a handfull of raiders on LDL who are so busy looking up to you that they don't seem to take any interest in improving.
There is a fine line between enabling and helping. Personally, I think Strike has crossed that line.
