Daen here is a law school student. Don't you just want to run out there and hire him? I don't see success in his lifetime, and I pitty his wife for paying his way all these years while he became a moron about the way things are in today's world. Go back to your books, and maybe check out the modern ones every now and then, read a newspaper, follow statistics about how many mothers are unwed when they give birth. Just because the kid doesn't have a dad doesn't mean that they don't have awesome grandfathers to look up to, as my children do, or uncles.

And for the record, my son was a "bastard" as you stated, but my daughter... the one you referred to originally, sorry I was married when she was concieved, and when she was born, at 2 I divorced her father. Oh ya, your the law student.... how can an idiot mother of 2 do her own divorce without some smart ass like yours help? Thats right because I know law too... Daen seriously shut up, go back in your hole and come out when 1950 comes back around, the lifestyle you welcome and know.

And fyi, in my divorces I gave money to my ex's so that they could survive without my income... and then took the rest of what was mine. I didn't go after their retirement or savings nothing. The thing about people like lawyers and doctors is that they excel in book smarts, but lack common sense. They seem to all be so withdrawn from reality. I see many of these individuals in the bank I work in. Sometimes I wonder how on earth they made it through med school or passed the bar exam....

That's just something less intelligent / less successful people say to make themselves feel better about their lives and accomplishments (or lack thereof). That is a fallacy aimed at equalizing two types of people who aren't equal. "Common sense" must not be too valuable if the people who are the most intelligent and successful don't have it. And what good is "common sense" doing all of the lesser individuals who make $8.00 an hour while possessing it in abundance? Most of the time, people that are doctors and lawyers are where they are because they were smarter or wanted to work harder than you, sometimes both. That said, not all of them fit this billing, as evidenced by the dumbfuck in this thread who isn't even out of law school and thinks he knows the first thing about handling a divorce, and who thinks he can be a shitty lawyer and make good money (not true, as you will eventually get sued for malpractice or will get such a bad reputation no one will use / hire you).

By the way, Sassy, this thread is in no way aimed at you in particular, but rather at the bullshit notion that is "common sense," and the presumed lack of it in intelligent people. My whole life I have seen people say that shit, and it's just not true.

I am definately not saying that because my life lacks accomplishments or to make myself feel better. Working in both the medical field and now in banking I have seen MANY people who are very sucessful (money wise and title wise) but do not posess much common sense.

I chose to have kids, not further my education to support my now ex husband through an expensive school. A regret I have, but I can not go change the past.

On a lighter note... GO WINGS!
