So this is how it all went down.

I loot [Undead Knight (Master I)] off of a trash mob in Kunzar Jungle. Woohoo, lucky me...

I get a tell from a guildie who plays a necro saying "bro how much do you want for that spell." (Phew of Immortality)

He offers me 30pp (which to me is honestly alot of money, since I have only been playing for like 2 months. I explain to him that I would rather check to see how much its worth first. (plus I also wanted to ask my two very good friends who are both Necro's) Also I had only just joined Immortality a few days prior to this, and have never spoken to this guy Phew, or grouped with him at all... (atleast not to my memory)

So I check the price and cheapest one on the broker is 187pp (whoa). So I ask by friends and they insist I go make some nice coin on it, that way I would be set, and have some cash for myself (keep in mind I have alot apprentice spells and need alot of things for my character, since it is my first toon)

I do a 70-79 channel shout, and immediately got tells offereing 100pp or more, on the spot. INCLUDING a tell from Phew, all mad saying how I should sell it to him. I explain to him what I have just told you, and he replies "Lmao, ok." I ask him whats so funny.. he replies "here, the guild discount is usually free," and "we give that kind of shit away here."

After hearing this I told him "Listen, I only joined this guild a few days ago, I wanna help and all but I don't even know you, I have never spoken to you or grouped with you. I don't owe you anything." I have also been told by members of this guild that to raid you need all Adept III spells... So giving away a spell that cheap wouldn't really help my situation there either.. And I don't see anyone mailing me free Monk Master spells.

I thought that was the end of it...

About an hour later while helping one of my new guildies finish her epic quest I lose vent connection...

Reason: don't talk shit to officers

Ok...

So I get a tell in game...

Phew tells you, The person that kicked you isn't in game
Phew tells you, You need to treat officers in this guild with a little more respect, ya hear me?

I don't respond, because I don't wanna start a huge drama fest...

Talisman (another officer) tells you, Whats the deal with you and Phew..?

I tell him there is no problem, to just stop all this drama, I didnt do anything besides refuse to give a guildie a 100plat discount on a spell.

Meanwhile don't forget Im trying to help a guildie get an epic weapon update and I am tanking mobs and trying to concentrate...

So i put in guild chat (i guess this is where i "crossed the line")

"Just to let anyone else know, who thinks there is some kind of problem, there isn't. All I did was refuse to sell a 150pp + spell to a guildie for 30pp. Please refrain from sending me any other tells asking me the story... because thats it..."

We handle it this way.. everyone who gives masters to other guildis (no need to ever have grouped with them.. it's a guildi period!) will receive looted master. Everyone who will sell his masters for the most money will not receive looted master for his class. Easy.

Don't know how it is in Immortality.. something written in they're rules?

I think it is a good way to give master first time to your own guild so you get stronger... and next to them you get free master back.

I think you were both wrong .... you looked about the most money for yourself.. he kicked you too early without place for discussions or something else.

in our guild we hand all masters to the "master officer" (which is me) i make a list of them, and ppl ask for them, and we roll...you hand in masters...you get masters back...

Tho 30p for a t8 pet master..he's having a joke, i think he was abusing the whole "your new to the guild/game i'm gunna fleece you for everything"

First off, I think Phew is way in the wrong, no matter how you want to look at this. (Well, I suppose if you are Phew, you feel completely wronged)

My first thought is, you looted it while soloing, you decide what you want to do with it. If you think it would be sporting to give to a guildmate you don't know from Adam, go ahead. If you think it would be best on the broker...live it up. If you think a friend who plays a necro would benefit from it, do what you want.

My 2nd thought is, if the idea is to benefit the guild, then selling the spell is by far the best option. It's not even close. If you can sell it, for whatever price, and then completely outfit yourself with all AD3's and some masters, than that is a huge win not only for you, but for the guild itself. A necro getting a upgrade to his tank pet benefits only one person...the necro himself.

Last thought is, is what Cenarius said. If you sell the masters you get, then clearly, you shouldn't expect masters sent your way in the future.

Let's be clear, it is pretty greedy to want to sell a master you looted for personal gain. However, it is RIDICULOUSLY greedy to want someone else who looted it to hand it over for a trivial amount for their own personal gain.

A good guild charter will spell it out. If charter says you donate masters, then you are wrong. If charter doesn't address masters, then they are wrong. Personally, I donate masters that make raids better, but a tank pet I would probably sell because they aren't a raid spell.

Also, the last master I happened to loot was a pet spell for another class (I can't remember which tho.) I was guilded to Pax Fatalis at the time, and OFFERED to give it away for free to a friend and guildie, and they would NOT accept it for free. It was like 50plat on the broker, and they offered 10 plat and a full suit of level 72 MC gear, and that was more than enough to me.

My point is.
1) I looted this thing solo
2) Who the hell is this guy Phew all of a sudden acting like I owe him something
3) This master happened to be worth alot more than a standard master.
4) My character needs to get all Adept III spells (according to there guild officers) and I am not quite worried about getting masters yet.

Not to mention I had no raid spot in the guild. And there was a monk above me...

Considering that, I'd say I had to pretty much look out for myself at that point.

I disagree with anyone who says they would join a guild practically brand new to this game. Have a bank account that has no more than 30 plat. And just give away a 150+ plat spell to some guildie who you have never even spoken to before. I think you just like to argue lol.

So the real discussion looks like what is a fair price for a major soloing/grouping master fo an alt

And 30pp seems a bit low to me

Seems alot low to me. 75% discount within guild I can see if you've bene with them for awhile, you know you fit in and you know it's going to be your home for a long time, but if you're brand new...not as much.

In that situation if it was me I woulda given Phew first shot at a more reasonable price, like 75-80 plat, which is still a pretty hefty discount considering the other offers received, or traded for a bunch of rare loams to make a bunch of CA upgrades for myself...and if he said no, then off to auction or broker it goes.

As stated above, you benefit the guild alot more by upgrading a bunch of CAs to Adept3 with the cash gained rather than having 1 necro alt get a single upgrade who's primary use will be for them to solo better.

OP probably could have handled the situation a little better, but Phew needs to grow a sack and not cry like you took away his blanky and bottle cuz he didn't get his precious master.
