SNARK IS NOT BANNED ON THIS SITE. Snark has sent me in game tells saying that he believes his IP number is banned on this site. IT IS NOT.

Here is proof - the user banning screen of my vBulletin admin console. Please note it presently shows ZERO IP numbers and email addresses banned on this site - that's because when I unbanned everyone from Dissolution, the IP ban list had become so unwieldy and disorganized I had to delete the entire thing and start over:



Snark should recognize this screenshot as a current version of the vBulleting console Banning Options screen. Please note that it lists ZERO banned IP numbers on this site. That means Snark IS NOT BANNED ON THIS SITE.

I've explained to Snark at least twice now, through in game tells, what I suspect the problem to be and how to fix it. When we were under a denial of service attack last week, this site was being spammed by 30,000 blank instructions per minute originating from many different random high anon web proxies and anon socks servers. The host provider who maintains our server, A Small Orange in Atlanta Georgia, at that time began banning the anon servers blasting that spam at us. It was at that time that Snark became unable to access not just this site, but our entire server and host.

Snark told me he had been accessing this site from an anon socks server or web proxy IP at that time, then he wasn't able to access this site after. It is possible, but I don't know, that Snark's same anon IP was used by the person attacking our site (and please note I'm not accusing Snark of doing that), and that it was included as an IP from which ALL web traffic would be refused by OUR HOST PROVIDER. I have no control over the business and technical practices of our host provider - if they deem it necessary to lock out an IP number from their server farm, there isn't a thing I can do about that.

The solution to Snark's problem is extremely simple. ALL HE HAS TO DO IS GO INTO HIS WEB BROWSER AND CHANGE HIS SETTINGS FROM "MANUAL PROXY CONFIGURATION" TO "DIRECT CONNECTION TO THE INTERNET".

Nothing could be simpler. He can do that in Firefox by going to options, then the first default selection "General", then press the "Connection Settings" button. Once in there, he just needs to click the "Direct Connection to the Internet" radio button, and he should immediately be able to access our host provider, and therefore also this site.

There is also no valid reason for Snark to insist on accessing this site only through an anon proxy server. His residential IPs are already in this system, and are among the ones I unbanned over a week ago with the rest of Dissolution.

If you have problems with me that you want to talk about, do that in the open LFG thread in this same section or send me a PM. But I again warn you to stop forcing me back into this thread.

Im not forceing you into this thread personaly I think you are overacting to this. did you unban snark? Yes he has told me this before. Is snarks ip still blocked or "banned"? Yes but its not your fault. Snark gave me the direct message on msn can you please post this image because I am banned. The basis of all claims made against me by many of the people you are arguing with is that I'm not fairly administering this site because you and I are friends. The gist of all those claims is that I'm making all Admin decisions in favor of you and against them. Ishbu tells me this is obvious and means I have no integrity.

THIS PUTS ME IN AN EXTREMELY DIFFICULT SITUATION AND DOESN'T HELP ME IN ANY WAY. In fact, it's the opposite of helping, because every time you do this, it eats up hours of my time arguing with people about it.

When you make comments like the ones you made above, it makes it appear that you and I are acting together against people from Dissolution, and that I'm Administering this site in favor of you and against them. WE BOTH KNOW THAT IS NOT HAPPENING.

I CANNOT RUN THIS SITE IF I HAVE AN IRRECONCILABLE CONFLICT OF INTEREST IN RUNNING THIS SITE. SUCH A CONFLICT DOES NOT EXIST SIMPLY BASED ON ME BEING FRIENDS WITH SOMEONE. SUCH A CONFLICT DOES EXIST IF I ALLOW YOU TO MAKE IT SEEM LIKE I'M CHEERING YOU ON FOR DOING THESE THINGS, OR THAT YOU AND I PLANNED ALL THIS BECAUSE I'M GETTING SOME BENEFIT FROM IT. I know you didn't say anything like that, but the appearance of impropriety is there just the same by what you wrote.

Please, just stop bringing me into this in any way.

Again I have no problem with you, I have said this before though i can see where you were upset by what I posted, I ment no ill will by it. And aplogise for the confusion / bad image it might have given off.

Well, then perhaps that particular web anonimizer has been banned by our host, I do not know.

They work like this:

-user requests web page from web anonimizer server
-web anonimizer requests page from website
-if successful, user views website page mirrored on anonimizer

I don't have the anonimizer banned either, but I don't know whether my host has it blocked or not, perhaps it is on their blocked list.

I don't mean to get into Snark's business at all. But if he absolutely must use a web anonymizer, why is he limited to using only that one? Why can't he change to another service?

There are dozens on the market - for example: www.c48.com

I can tell you for a fact that one isn't blocked and can access this site.

The problem is he can view the website useing proxfiy but it wont let him post or log in. With out useing a proxy he can not view the site, he was asking how he can fix this I belive.

Well, I just tried using proxify to log into this site, and got this error message:

They make you subscribe before they turn on the part of their service that allows you to log in and post. If he isn't paying them money, I'm not sure he'll be able to find a web anonymizer that will allow him to log in and post without a paid subscription.

One solution is, if he absolutely must do this, is to configure his browser to access this site through a high anon web proxy or socks server. Basically, a web anonymizer, like the one he is trying to use, is a limited thing that only works with the browser. A high anon web proxy or socks server would anonymize everything going out of his computer, including information from his web browser.

I can't provide an education about how to do these things, because that would create problems from people attempting to register and post from multiple accounts here.
