Guild Etiquette
You might have some helpful advice for me.
If a guild kicks you for no apparent reason, and offers no explnation, with you being a member in good standing 9th highest on the DKP chart, with over 60 hours of raid time, should there be some sort of compensation, and how would you go about getting said compensation?
Also, what is to be said about the members of a guild that would allow such an action?
I'm stumped, and I don't like not haveing a answer, I was hoping you might offer some knowledgable insight.

Re: Guild Etiquette
If I lived close enough to be doing that, I wouldn't be asking for advice. I might be asking for bail though.
Edit: But really, if a guild can just use you for time and kick you because the leader is having a bad night. Is there no way to demand compensation?

Who would you take your case to, Judge Judy? If there a co-leader or other officer you can talk to?

Re: Guild Etiquette
Well the guild is a dictatorial bureaucracy with only one person who could really speak against such an action, His internet happened to be down that night, http://www.crimsonstalkers.net/index...ewtopic&t=1744 ,
and when he got back it was the raid leader’s word against a person who had been removed from the guild and had no input. A real Kangaroo court of the lynching mob explaining why that guy is dangling behind them. So going to the co-leader would be an act of futility. The only real power here seems to be the raid leader, and if I’m wrong, I sure would like to know why nothing has been said or done.

Re: Guild Etiquette
If you had that many hours of raid time with the guild they would be crazy to boot a valuable and dependable raider. I say you did something that you're not fessing up to. If you didn't and they foolishly booted you, then you are better off anyway.
So, fess up. What'd you do?

Re: Guild Etiquette
I realize this is a flame board, but forgive me for not going into specifics.
This was not some random act of punishment, but one that had been brewing for some time. The problem simply is that Malstorms was a disruptive presence in our guild.
Crimson Stalkers has always been a casual raiding guild, so time spent raiding is not the end all and be all of why you stay in the guild. I can tell you that Malstorms is a decent swashy, but the personality conflicts were too numerous for him to stay.
Removing him from the guild was not a decision made over the course of one night, nor was it a decision handed down from only one of the 7 active leaders(no I am not the leader he's accusing of having a bad night). It was unfortunate that we had to boot him, as it is not something we choose to do lightly, but ultimately for the overall health of the guild it had to be done.
I wish Malstorms all the best in his new guild and hope that he is a better fit with a more dedicated raiding guild.

Re: Guild Etiquette
This post reminds me of the old saying, "be careful what you ask for, because you might just get it."
The OP suggested that he was owed some type of "compensation" for being booted from his guild. It appears that the guild leadership has now paid that compensation in the form of a giant heaping bowl of ownage.

Re: Guild Etiquette
This thread is awesome.
It provides great insight into the entitlement complex way too many people have when they join a guild.
Protip: being online a lot and participating in a lot of raids isn't an excuse to be a raging shitfucker to your guildmates. I'm not sorry you had to learn the hard way, because I'm sure you had ample warning, just like everyone else who forces the guild leaderships' hand in these situations.
