The NGD vs. Non-NGD thread

It's SOE's job. And it's the mod's job (although what can you expect when the wolves are guarding the hens...but that's another thread). It was their ball to play, and they dropped it, horribly.

Now good on you (and I say that quite honestly, I am...occassionally, capable of noting when someone does something right) for doing it, but you shouldn't have had to. People will, by their nature, take whatever advantage they can get (give an inch, take a mile etc etc). To be honest, I don't even blame the NGD regulars (much) for what the place turned into. I blame the people whose JOB it was to handle it, and didn't.

I know from experience that self regulation is usually the LAST form of regulation, and if things get to the point where even the people who were benefiting the most start to realize that shit was getting out of control, that's a problem. Sure it's good that the community itself realized that things were degrading and took proactive steps to fix it.

Where the hell were the people who were supposed to be doing it in the first place? If the mod list posted elsewhere is to be believed, if anything they were helping to further the problem.

Now like I said, if the community itself realized that things were out of hand and took remedial steps to fix it..ok. Now the question is, how'd it get that way in the first place? It's good you did, but you never should have had to.

Some people choose not to even go there, but I chose to speak up and ask why it was that NGD was "allowed" (perceived) to do whatever they wanted.

I could play the "What If?" game all day. I could continue to debate the size of the problem, the best possible solution, and forensically examine how we got where we are.

Or I could just get off my ass and start trying to help. *shrug* I'm a doer. Granted some people can tell you that gets me in trouble at times, because I make decisions without consulting people but I'm finding balance. There was an issue, and I'm personally trying to help out. I can't speak for anything beyond that I'm afraid.

Ok I'll give you that. Really all I wanted out of my post was people to take accountability for what was going on. I knew there were quite a few NGD regulars who visited the Vetran's forum. I also removed "Home Field Advantage" by not posting my post in NGD itself (I can only imagine what kind of mess THAT would have been) and I'm glad that tho my post is gone, and those that didn't see it would never know any better, that the intent has actually worked out.

And I still see as much traffic as before in NGD, so it didn't hurt it as bad as some people said it would :p

Without being overly dense, what was this post about? I don't have access to the veteran's lounge due to the custom title so I think I missed whatever is being discussed here.
