What does *ANYONE* do other then hit buttons and wait for refreshes to pop back up? you telling me its completely impossible to auto attack and debuff/nuke between Heals?

the reason some DPS classes never make those 3k parses is because the OP of this thread. if 5 healers in a raid only produce 500dps each because they are more focused on Healer then DPSing thats still 2500 more dps you previously didn't have. Last I checked the faster a mob dies the less you have to heal.

If you aren't dps'ing/healing/debuffing on another computer while waiting for the recast timers on your main computer, then you are a slacker!

Check the group/raid window for who needs spot heals, look for cures that are needed, check tells for out of group healers asking for cures (if I'm raiding), and looking for off mobs to debuff. There's a lot more to healing than just spamming buttons (or so I'm told. I don't know, because I'm dumb and don't know how to play my class) and waiting for the mob to die.

I absolutely think healers should be doing melee dps if they can. Several healing classes were given achievment abilities built around having combart arts (mystics/inquisitors/wardens). If they can use them and keep their group alive, they should. Ours pump out 1k dps on encounters easily, and we encourage it.

As a Warlock, I never have any down time between casting spells, I'm sure Wizards are the same. You should constantly be cycling through your spells. If you have down time waiting for spells to refresh, you need to rethink your casting order, or maybe add some other spells to the list.

I do have to add another thing tho, on the other hand you have healers who basicly think they are a dps class and NEVER heal or cure anyone (except maybe cast a group heal when they are dieing themself), just keep spamming theyr nukes / attacks (furies and inqs seam to most often fall into this catagory). This is just as bad, heck I'd rather have a healer who never did any dps than a healer that thought they were a dps class.

But all good healers should do both! (and more)

Any healer who isn't standing idle, conserving power and trembling in anticipation over needing to cast a heal or cure is an absolute idiot... nuff said.

Healers are for healing, curing, and the occasional rez... those other 30-34 spells are just fluff, and occasionally for soloing (if you're gay)

i try to do everything i can acording too the moment but im never allowed to use my full heal res during a raid or i always get bitched at. aparently it is the bard/necros job to res. Combat dps takes nothing to click the stamina attack which takes no time to use and knocks down epics which looks cool but isnt supposed to work on epics but more importantly it also automatically starts your auto attack on so is like 2 buttons in one. If im not busy doing something/anything then i feel guilty so i always try too at least debuff between heals even if the fight is too short to get off a couple nukes.

Ok......This has prob already been said but im going to say it again just because im nosey and want to put my 2 cents in.....


There is a good time to heal AND dps but there is also a good time just to heal.

The best time to heal AND dps is when you either have 2 healers in a grp or when you know for a fact those health bars aren't going past yellow. Being a warden i sometimes send in my dogs which takes like two secs to cast and they are there till they die but thats usually all i do because most of the time im the only healer. Same thing goes for raids.

The best time just to heal...well you should know.. but it doesn't hurt to throw a little bit of damage in they didn't give us Damage spells for nothing. duhh.

Don't listen to ashmoria, he just mashes his buttons all day and soul wards the clerics. but seriously, anyone who is complaining about healers dps'ing needs to stfu. If people are dying or having to joust unneccesarily, then sure, your healers aren't doing their jobs. But if you can throw reactives up, throw on three debuffs, reverance some dps class taking dmg, cast dmg spells and refresh your reactives and then dps some more with auto attack on. I gotta wonder if your sleeping through raids.

I'm exausted by these posts about curing, dpsing, and bad handjobs regarding healers on these forums. Outside of avatars and 4 other mobs, eq2 raiding is ez mode until RoK. 95% of the content your healers can dps on and save you 10 mins up to an hour depending on the zone your clearing. 6-7 healers should put out 5k zonewide, and a lot more on trash. If they are just worrying about that tank, thats why eh is taking you 2 days.
