Re: Top Guilds Worldwide
Regardless whether anyone agrees or disagrees with the extent to which many of us have complained about raid content in this expansion, it seems to me we have at least been somewhat successful in getting our point across and being heard at higher levels within the EQ2 team and SoE.
Loud posts on this site calling for high level players to boycott EoF, relating SoE's sordid history of lies and failure to deliver less than promised every release, every year since the beginning of EQ, appear to have accomplished at least some positive results.
These efforts have clearly caused SoE to hear and become aware of the extent to which end game players like me were displeased with EoF. Without the loud and in many cases very hostile and personal complaints leveled against EQ2 and some EQ2 team members from this site about how we were about to get screwed once again, but harder than ever before, I don't think we would have seen the recent hyper-focused, Gallenite driven efforts to improve raid content.
Two years ago, as a new player, I started out my relationship with SoE managment as a polite person who sought to achieve postive change through constructive methods I normally apply in business. I bought into this game, switching from another, and eventually came to invest thousands of hours of my time in it. I have the same stake in this game that SoE does, even though theirs is as a principal, and mine is as an investor.
And slowly but surely, I became jaded by one disappointment after another. When people first began to turn 50 in EQ2, all the content was greyed out, and there was nothing left to do. How could this have been overlooked? Over 1000 RL hours pursuing my path as a crafter, spending 3 months 10+ hours a day, 7 days a week to get level 50 as a crafter, completely wasted by changes that now make it possible to level a crafter to 50 in 2 to 3 days at most. And then their was the froglok quest, and the big, undeniable, intentional lies that wasted hundreds of hours of some people's time.
And then DoF, the poster child for content that was released at least six months too early, with ZERO of the DOZENS of game breaking bugs I meticulously reported in beta ever fixed before release. And the horrid, shoddy itemization of DoF, raiding day in and day out just wondering "why am I still doing this". KoS looked promising, but somehow all of the itemization problems with DoF were simply overlooked, and raiders were served more shit on a shingle, both in terms of itemization and raid content that was always released a day late and a dollar short. Ultimately, raiders paid the full price of SoE's running out of time and resources to finish KoS, and all unfinished content and items that were supposed to have nice procs were once again given the "SoE haircut" and dumbed down to the point where many defeated their own purpose and were made into a bad joke.
What SoE has taught me in the time I've played EQ2, what I now believe as firmly as the sun will rise tomorrow, is that when it appears they are about to screw you, you are surely about to get screwed. When you don't do anything about that, but just let it happen, you are a dumbass for believing their bullshit about "oh don't worry, we'll fix that and take care of you eventually." Fuck that, we're not stupid, and we're not taking it anymore.
I agree that those who've helped test raid content for EoF have helped improve the game. But many of us who've burned our bridges with SoE now and have gone so far as to put our virtual necks on the line by exposing many of the problems with EoF have contributed at LEAST equally. Had we just been polite, politically correct players who waited patiently for SoE to keep its promises and deliver quality high level raid content that was ready on release day, there is no doubt in my mind that we'd have just been fucked up the ass once again. And it still remains to be seen whether we are going to get a meaningful expansion or not.
So to anyone who thinks I or anyone else has been extremely ugly or hateful toward SoE in the months and weeks leading up to EoF, you are correct. And that's because they've taught us that we need to act this way or they won't keep their promises.

Don't pat yourself on the back too hard, I'd hate for FoH to lose their #1 recruitment tool.

I wasn't patting myself or my guild on the back at all, I was actually talking about guilds like SD since they were the ones I saw mostly talked about in this thread, but I knew someone would say something like what you said, and I meant to go ahead and respond to it before anything was even said but that's what happens when you post at 3:30 am with not much sleep..you forget.
If you even had a remote clue, as to the time stamps on that screenshot you are so blatantly referring to, you'd know that was an honest question and not a "recruitment tool" as you call it. I love how things are copy/pasted together to make it look like something someone said, I guess you've never used Photoshop. I have never denied anything that happened in that incident, and you have no clue the incredible amounts of shit that I get still to this day, from pathetic assholes like you, about an ordeal they know nothing about. But I honestly expect nothing more from you, which is sad, because while we were in FoH together, and while I knew you, I never had a harsh word to say about you, until now.
I never said Dissolution was a bad guild, ever. I again, asked a question and posed my assumption to that question. I have absolutely no doubt that Disso will get through the content in EoF and have no problems doing so. I was plainly pointing out that Pinski was wrong in his comment. So go ahead and sling your shit Gaige, you're so good at fighting on the internet, I bet it makes your mommy so proud. But next time, talk shit about things you know instead of making retarded comments about things of which you have no clue.

1) I didn't even know we were in FoH at the same time. So that is pretty funny. All I know of you, I heard from Ticriss.
2) My mommy is very proud. She tells me I'm #1 all the time.
