the amplified devastation strike seems to be a new feature with some raid mobs in this expansion too. think about the complete encounter situation when the 15k strike happens and why it might be happening.

you can mez D, and it will still AE through it. just mez it in a good spot, the AE is melee range only. =) X is not controllable and must be held by the tank while T is killed. the fight isnt fundamentally that hard, however it REQUIRES either a mezzer or a very strong rooter.

i will say it's probably the most challenging of any heroic instance encounter in RoK though. that's more of a knock on everything else being so fucking easy though. =(

There should be a recast timer on that ability too, so if you're burning fast enough, it could easily only be able to get it off once.

i dont care if a random dev chimes in and says that power drain finally works on something; there is an obvious script in place for the mob, the mob is EXTREMELY doable, with one healer, by a straight burn strategy as long as everyone is on the ball and accounts for the script, and to me the "sit there for awhile and do nothing but power drain it down" strategy feels like it'd be cheesy as shit.

if the dev teams wants power drain to be a valid tactic, then start making every mob unable to use its abilities or AE's when OOP, and enchanters will start happily draining and scouts will start using mental breach (without feeling like douchebags for losing 8% of their ZW to caustic) again. however, this isnt going to happen, as it completely invalidates the main strength of almost every named epic mob in the game and would trivialize much of the content as long as the MT group could keep the tank alive for X minutes until the scouts finally drained the mob dry.

hell, we took a healer-lite x2 or x3 into Chel'drak a while back just for fun and ended fucking up a few times on the healer adds, causing the fight to drag on for nearly 20 minutes. by that time the mob was completely bone dry on power from scouts mental breach... should he have stopped using his AE's, CA's, or scripted abilities at that time? what kind of joke of an encounter would that be? just heal the MT for long enough until the big nasty dragon becomes completely gimp and falls to pieces at your feet?

now do you see my point on full power drain not being a valid or challenging MMO encounter tactic?

well we only took 2 burns from 100 to 51 and from 51 to 0... we stopped all spellcasting on the mob around 10sec before it actually hits so it cant have been a stiffle or stun

fight is not hard at all, just use ACT smartly with her special ability and pace yourselves

I've had a lot of people chat me up about killing this mob and complaining that the strategy I was using wasn't working. So I grabbed a group of 6 PUG scrubs and tried it out. We were able to drop her on our second pull. So I'll outline the strat for those that don't want to figure it out o their own.

*This is not the best way to do this fight, nor the way I kill this mob. This is a dumbed down, watered out version of how the fight should go. This way makes the fight last much longer then normal but helps to remove some of the mistakes associated with this fight.*

!*!SPOILER ALERT - do not finish reading this if you don't want the Drusella fight spoiled for you!*!

-Pull the two adds from Drusella's room and kill them.
-Hug the right wall and set up in the nearest right corner. There are two "pillar" things connected to the wall here that cage in the corner. Tank puts their back on the right wall facing the mob. All melee stacked with the tank and healers in the opposite corner/pillar.
-Make two hotkeys if your not using vent. Make them obnoxious. One for dis-engage, the other for engage.
-Everyone in group must drop any damage shield buff. Un-equip any item that procs damage from being hit or a dot. If Drusella gets damaged while her boneshield is up she heals at a large exponential rate from the damage done to her.
-Pull Drusella. DPS does not engage yet, only debuffs. Healers heal obviously but really your just tanking her out till her first boneshield goes up.
-Eventually she'll do an emote with her hands and then a big brown bone wall will come up around her like a Warlock just rooted her.
-When this wall drops spam your engage hotkey and tear into her. As soon as the bone shield drops start a timer or count to yourself. Full burn her for 14 seconds then spam your disengage hotkey. Continue to taunt but nothing with a damage component to it. She can and will randomly mem wipe, heal through the mob and the tank just has to get it back.
-Once you have called disengage just wait and the boneshield will go up again after 3-8 seconds. Having given yourself a good buffer and lots of disengage spam everyone in the group should not be attacking at this point. Again wait for the boneshield to drop and then start the cycle all over again. Rinse and repeat until dead.
-If fit hits the shan, running back to the portal you took into the room will break the encounter and you can port back in and res in the corner safely.
-The occasional riposte off the tank will heal her a tick or two but nothing drastic.
-Done correctly one decent tank can do this with 5 nubs. This strat is nub tested!

The most efficient way we have found to kill this mob is for everyone to go balls out dps and whoever has aggro tanks. Wait for her arm emote and just stop damage until the shield drops. If no one screws up you'll only see maybe 3-4 boneshields before she is dead.
