Default Chardok Quests (Gwalnax Brigade)

I love the zone and the zones progression, I think it is fantastically designed. I'm quite looking forward to the loot problems being fixed and spending even more time here.

Now, the bad. The Gwalnax Brigade faction quests that bring in Chardok are absolutely fucking horrible. Besides the fact that they appear to end at only 7,500 faction (unless there is some item or random npc I need to find somewhere to continue them), the quests themself to get you to that point are fucking miserable. The first few quests from one of the npc's are labeled as solo, which is not even remotely the case as they require you to kill heroic mobs for them. That brings me to the fact that all of these quests in a HEROIC GROUP zone require you to loot an item from a chest to update the quest, and require multiple of them. So when you get a group of 6 people in there working on this quest line you are going to be in there for an eternity. These should not be chest drops you have to loot, these should be auto updates, they don't need to be 100% you can make them uncommon if you want just not chest drops.

But that isn't the worst of it! Then there are the quests that require you loot an item from the chest of a named, a named with a ph, and do something with that item. Fucking come on, the drop is guranteed from the name but you have to be fucking kidding me. A group of 6 people has to kill a named that has a ph 6 times so they can all update the quest? Again, this should be something all 6 can get at once. When you are on that step of the quest and kill the named pop up a quest reward box with the item you need instead of putting it in the mobs chest.

And all this for what? To end at 7500 faction with sub par rewards along the way (in the 15 or so quests there was not one single reward I as a mage would use). This is not the epic quest line, these updates should not be nearly as retarded as they are.

Also DO NOT make the nameds auto spawn and nerf the loot drops. Make killing them when on that step of the quest give you a quest reward box.

And as far as the quest suddenly halting after going room by room throughout the dungeon and not continuing into the castle, I hope I'm missing something... There was great quest progression till that point with how it brings you threw the zone, then it just halts abruptly with nothing... I hope I'm just missing something obvious.

Mind sharing how you got any quests from them in the first place?

I think updates like that are bullshit. If it needs to give you an item for the quest vs an auto update the drops should contain one for every party member that has the quest or auto update. I'm noticing allot of the quests (even solo) work in such a way it's not efficient to do it as a group.

Yeah, there's a total lack of consistency in quest updates, for example:

Some drops will update everyone's quest as in Drachnid heads at the start of KP quests, body drops that show up in lotto for any who need them, and everyone gets their update whether solo or grouped.

Harvest items such as tablets by the fishmen in Fens, everyone can harvest these one after another as the object itself does not disappear, merely becomes unclickable once you have your update

Harvest items such as boxes in Sebilis which disappear after one person harvests them and leads to huge frustration for a group - because basically if you're in Sebilis you're with a group. It is possible to get these solo, but not much fun tbh. I'm just using these as an example as I can remember these ones.

And now the method Slippery mentions above. Consistency would be a great thing, especially for heroic quests in heroic zones. It just seems bizarre to me that solo quests are often group-update-friendly and heroic quests are often not group-update-friendly.

A few other things.

The map in the castle appears to go on, but there is an off color wall blocking the path. Is there a way to make this open? It has the same layout as the Overking raidzone, but it doesn't appear to go past the statue room.

The Warlord guy gives text like he should be giving you another minor quest but doesn't, possible bug?

How do you get started on these quests? In beta you just ran up and talked to the guy but apparenlty he wants you to do something first. Any idea on what you need to do to get the quests?

in order to get past the "off color" walls you have to kill a gatekeeper mob. The last door (red one) the mob you need to kill is in the little area off the right hand side of the path by the water. From there you'll head into the castle area which is actually fucking cool. The inside has the same layout as the raid zone, but coming up on it, the moat and everything is very cool. We managed to kill (I think) all the named in there the other day (disco'd the red door gem) and got a grand total of ZERO fucking chests off the named in the castle proper. Same situation as the bottom of Sebilis where after killing a few of the named in the very bottom areas, we said fuck this and left cause whats the point in screwing around with mobs that are clearly not itemized... anyhow semi OT but lots of potential in that zone...

Anyone got more info on these quests?

We're kinda stuck at the quest "Rhino-Spy" or something like that (since name is german here). And we have NO clue where the severed arm/pocket of the iksar in the rhino pen could be. Getting kinda desperate. Only thing we haven't tried is kill the named golem (ony ph up for several spawns).

Anyone got an idea?

Prettyplease hehe.

I submitted the locs of the dull kromslayer in Kylong Plains on eq2map. Not all, but at least 5. Just go look for these groundspawns and hand them in to the Gwalnax NPC at the tower in front of Chardok gates. He will give you +5000 faction per item. Repeat 4-5 times and see ;).

Edit: Never mind my question earlier, found it out ;). Most quests in this line are a PAIN in the ass for a group because the questupdates are no-trade drops, but you can't solo them. Most of the stuff is easy to find out and logic(al?) .

Discovering this stuff on our server atm, so will prolly keep on questing through the night .
