tanks getting one shotted only means that you need to be prepared to do something other than your standard vanilla MMO strat of "funnel all the focus of the mob's dmg into one heavily buffed tank for 8 minutes while everyone else heals off weak ass jousted AE's and does their little dance"
The more raiding relies on luck and the RNG gods, the less fun and engaging it becomes. I shouldn't have to sit there with Torah, Qur’ān, and Bible open while I recite 15 hail marys in hopes that the MT doesn't suddenly drop. If I wanted to be at the mercy of 'luck' I would spend my time in front of the slot machines, not EQ2.

Play WoW. No, seriously. Those are the types of raid encounters WoW has, that RoK tried to emulate, but failed. Raid Illidan once, and you'll have to clean yourself up with your left sock after.

Because no matter what we do, the tank WILL die sometimes. And sometimes? That's CHANCE. LUCK. NOT SKILL.
You keep the tanks up the majority of the time? You cast heals spells and you keep your tanks alive for a period of time. That's what makes you worth a fuck. It's just not your fault when the tank gets one rounded.

You are correct - it's a chance they may die but if the shamans keep the wards up the tank isn't going to die. I suggest raiding with 1-2 shamans. That will help solve alot of your problems.

However it takes some skill to recover from your MT dieing and once you have that down it really doesn't matter. All that it does is add some more to repair costs. It doesn't really matter. That helps both our arguments. If you can execute it well after the MT dies it is trivial. However I think alot of guilds have problems doing that and therefor the mechanic should remain in the game until they provide different challenges on these encounters.

Yes, exceuting a recovery makes things pretty easy, and I should think most are getting quite adept at it by now. One encounter is particularly annoying though if your tank drops, with the frontal cone mezz that hits every 15-20seconds, you get lucky and it doesn't hit- You can recover pretty easily. If it hits though and you lose valuable seconds trying to get a pot/signet off whilst already losing half your raid force... THAT is fucking annoying.

tis true, being able to pull off a relatively smooth tank switch is one of the things that separates the men from the boys. and a lot of guilds are pretty horrible at doing it. keep it in game and they'll be forced to either stop sucking at life, or they'll quit. either way everyone wins. ;)

They'll also be forced to recruit even more healers so they can do a tank switch.

wrong. it's not about having more healers but rather having the right off tank group setup.

If you have more then 6 priests on a raid your tank should really never die in VP Assuming you have a defiler and mystic. Since most people have atleast 7 priests in their guild I really don't see what the problem is.

RoK is the death of the offtank group.

If you're still using an offtank group, you're really just using a gimped 2nd MT group.
