Wait, let me save this quote for posterity, you desire for them to release broken content in the future in order to artificially cockblock your progression? Interesting point of view. I remember how pissed everyone was at the bugs at EOF release and the complete outrage at the lack of Dev action to fix them (charm lags, delevel lags, rumbler drama, etc), and now that there's relatively few bugs you're like damn, I miss the good old days when they released shit all broke! With an attitude like that, why should they even bother trying to please you? Damned either way :p

This, however, makes more sense, and is a logical way of slowing progression. It should be accompanied by removing gimmicks such as mender bots and repair kits (losing persistent zones means nothing if you can "camp overnight" in an instance after unlimited amounts of wipes, forever and ever), so that your progression is limited by how well you do with a limited set of attempts, and not determined by how much time you have to spend on the encounter. There has to be a penalty for failure in order for the term "risk versus reward" to mean anything, and the most common penalty in these types of games is time. Screw it up and you have to wait.

Persistent zones can only be blamed so far... If a guild was smart, they would just stay logged into a zone so to say persistent or not makes no difference if there is a lockout timer longer than 1 day. The real fault that I see with this expansion is simply that you are more than capable of killing "end-game" content with the old EOF stuff. Even with no avatar gear, I don't see much in added in the ROK gear from EOF. The only addition I really see is mabey 20 more mit and a little crit/DA. Let me go jump up and down now! New should have been REQUIRED to even get into VP.

Which is why you get rid of mender bots and repair kits, too! The two go hand in hand, camping overnight was stupid, and a game should never be a contest of who can leave their PC on and their character idle the longest in order to remain inside a non-persistent zone, but people didn't start doing that until the developers put the aforementioned items in the game to encourage them to do so.

I don't personally care either way, I'm just saying that if people want progression, with the ridiculous scaling 'curves' applied to everything from stats to mitigation - that's really the only way to go about it (well, or get rid of the curves and completely re-do itemization) - a wipe would mean something, then, and there would definitely not be guilds knocking on Trakanon's door already if people in hardcore guilds didn't have a month's worth of unlimited pulling to get there.

I like the ideas behind a lot of the encounters in the zone, but most of the encounters are made artificially easier by abilities the players have that devs don't account for, or things that while you should be doing something for a script do not have to do because you can kill the mob without doing. What it really boils down it is designers need to actually think about how to make you complete the script instead of just killing the mob, and in lot of cases Djinn Master is the greatest example of not completing script he can't be brought down below x health.

What about the reason why persistent zones were brought into the game in the first place? So other guilds besides the top tier, hardcore ones could have a chance at actually getting through the zone. They may have gone a bit overboard making all the instances persistent in RoK, but with EH, it made perfect sense to me that they would want to let all raid guilds at least get a shot at forming strategies and implementing them without having to worry about going to sleep to wake up for their job in the morning.

Trouble is... There is 9 days which you can use to wipe in VP, what it needs to be is say 2-3 days where you can re-enter the instance, then it resets after 6 or something.

So, you get say 3 days where you can re-enter the instance, then 3 days where you gotta wait for it to reset itself. 9 days open on the same instance or whatever it is, is waaaayyyy too long.

Granted top guilds, Strike, Beta-PU, Beta-Dawn, probably would be able to do it in that 2-3 days, but it'd certainly hold up the rest.
