Re: If Avatars are the same, would you still want to play EQ2 as a top-tier raider?
For all of those of you who say you would quit I'm just curious how much of a revamp you are expecting.
I bet it will be one new ability (like Valor had temporarily when he popped towards the end of the expansion accidentally), and probably double attack, and I'm guessing the hit rates on them will be even more atrocious.
I just think its really naive if you purchased this expansion thinking all the avatars would be completely different.
I don't know after hearing Hartsman nag about how much of a bitch it was to create contested mobs at Fanfaire he basically gave me the impression not to expect to much this expansion, and I didn't when I bought it.
If SOE were smart they would release the avatars into the world 3 at a time (good, evil neutral) put them on a week timer, and have them drop 1 piece of loot and some masters. I think this would dissolve some bitching of the same mob as last expansion since most servers last expansion really only saw the same 4 avatars every time 85% of the time.

You'd still see some more than others - 3 Good Gods, 4 Evil Gods, 5 Neutral Gods.
They should just RNG pop them, instead of Faction based and keep the old timer system.

Shared loot tables is a horrible idea, we got 2 robes and 6 or 7 priest boots and 8 helmets. If rare drops are only usable by 2-4 classes (ie Tranquil Stone, 2h from Fear, and Axe/Sword) I'll probably reconsider paying money to play this game every month and invest in a video game that doesn't release broken content to maybe fix it 4 months later.

I agree the spawn system sucks, but it can't be random. If it's random you will have the same thing that happened with avatar loot last tier now happening to the actual avatars this tier. People will get lucky or unlucky and have the same thing spawn all the time. Randomness with huge tables is horrible implementation because you run into the same problem that happened in KoS with Ring of Supremecies and EoF with Crit/Al'Kabor robes.
If they want to keep the faction system for lore reasons, they need to convert it to a weighted faction system that prevents repeats until so many cycles. They also should split the 12 avatars into 3 groups and have each group spawn on a seperate timer to increase the consistancy of their content being used. If they continue to share the same timer and spawn 1 at a time it's going to be another complete waste of content.

item drops rates haven't worked with the classes that could use them since day one of this game, it's frustrating and likely to never get fixed :\

Re: If Avatars are the same, would you still want to play EQ2 as a top-tier raider?
"anyways, the people in any of the guilds that have cleared VP would probably have zero problems with learning and understanding pvp in a few weeks, killing avatars is not 30 times harder on a pvp server like everyone says, you just need to be more dedicated, have a shit load of members, and log on at 3am."[/quote]
anyways how is waiting to hardly any people are online and then zerging the zone so no one can interfere with the encounter challenging or any different from killing avatars in a PvE server? maybe i read that the wrong way.
i think there is a curve for learning pvp vs pve but the top end players in the best guilds ww are talented players, i doubt it would take them more then a few days if that to learn how to dominate over on a pvp server. just my two cents

think about what you just asked? Your playing on nagafen, the most populated server, all you need to do to kill some guild on an avatar is kill there tank, you could have a x3 block raid ( which onyx and kraken sometimes have ) and someone will still get thru, debuff your tank and then kill your raid.
A few nights ago contested mayong spawned both of which the top two exile guilds still kill for loot, it takes about 30seconds for our bruisers to train up to mayong, it takes about 5seconds to make them wipe by killing there tank. Most avatar kills on nagafen were late night EST. Hmm this sounds just like a pve contested kill, lots of fireworks and lag vs lag and people trying to kill you? Anyways the thing is on nagafen, theres always people that are online that know about these contested being up in the faction that kills them (exile) and they will block you/try to kill you all night until you give up. You can pull it at 3 am and still get much interference.
