It happens every so often, but it's effect depends on something you do ;-)
Taking into account the fact that you killed him, you have just few slackers in your raid don't paying attention to their detr effects window. Though sometime Fatalisis strikes before you can do anything. This is just bad luck then.

Do you guys ever have anyone become the "Bitch" for the power drain? We were fighting Venril the other day and I had to logout for a bit to sort some RL shit. When I came back in I seemed to become the Victim of his power drain every single time he cast it. We are still learning this mob btw...

We are trying to practice managing our power so we do it from the start of the fight. I know you don;t have to do it until you have the effect but we are practicing. So, imagine this, everyone in the raid, apart from me gets their power to around 55% and I stay at 100 with just attack on as a test. Bam , power drain hits and I am at 25% and dropping...

We are getting close to using the item so I need to get my power back up so I use heart + shard +manastone. Power is creeping towards 60% and BAM , power drain on me and main tank (effect is up this time). Power feeders feed the main tank while I use Overclocked Manastone, Heart, Shard, Manastone, Essence of Clarity, Power Root and Overflowing vessel. I have just got my power back to around 60% (mob at 29% health) and Bam, power drain on me and a dirge.

The only items I have up are heart, shard and manastone but its not enough. Power at 19% , charmed and add comes. I don;t know what more I can do. I am not even dpsing the named, just fighting for power.

I thought maybe it was something to do with the fact that I was last person in zone so I had someone relog - No joy

I thought maybe it was because I had the lowest poison resist so I buffed that - NO joy

I thought maybe he was picking between the people with lowest power pool for the drain, highest power for the feed but didn't have the gear to test that theory. Either way, if one person gets drained more than twice on that fight I can't see how they could do anything about it. Am I missing something?

hearts /shards/signets/crystal gifts/clarity pots/manastone/ power roots/ sorcerer feeds/ mana flow/bottle of intellect

I have had the drain on me 3 times in a row back to back just make sure people know you have it and if needed get a feed. 99% of the time most of the above will do just fine.

Don't have Crystal gifts

Anyways, we were quite short on mana regen classes that night with just one in each group. We only had warlocks and enchanters for feeds which is crap because both feeds happen over time. I guess with our optimal force and a wizard in raid it should be easier. Just wondered if I missed something with the drain.

Btw, does anyone know if the drain is for a fixed range of power or is it a % of your max power. I was gonna try beefing up my power pool to make things easier if that is the case

Um don't cast

really if you stay at 50%+
and pay attention to the drain.
You should be able to handle the drain yourself w the above mentioned items.

I think its 2% of your power per tick and a whopping additional power draw (like 220% or so) on all casts.

I could be wrong, but its something like that.

There's some nice pants that drop in Shard of Fear that proc fear immunity for the scouts. Procs quite often.

Also another helpful hint for the classes that use (de)buffs that cost power over time (like Emotional Dirge - bleh, who came up with that name!) is to cancle them while you have the debuff, cause they also get affected by it if you haven't figured that out yourself already.
