Grey Court of Innovation

So, there are several level 80 Rangers now trying to complete Raincaller in order to progress with the Epic quest. One of the sub-qeusts in RC requires you kill the boss mob in Court of Innovation in Klak. A level 55-57 zone.

As far as I know from channels and friends, no one has been able to complete the step because the damage shiled NEVER comes off of the last mob. He is spawning in an undamageable state.
We've tried the event in several ways, ie,
Grabbing the gear form the king once dead and opening on the last guy with damage
Killing the king in the lower area and grabbing the gear and pulling the boss with the gear
leaving the gear on the floor next to the king and attacking the boss
Evaccing to reset the encounter and attacking while spamming the gear
Just spamming the gear with an occasional auto attack to see if it hits
The list goes one...
He never takes any damage from 100% at all.

So I guess my first question is, has anyone completed this zone while it was greyed out?

Are we just a bunch of tards who are missing some key factor, like mobs that need to die out in the other room first?

Don't think so. The Master Clockwork's stone skin is supposed to come up at 10% not at the start of the fight.

I ran into the same problem. I petitioned and received this as a consolation...

"This is Game Master Royen. I am very sorry to hear that you are facing a problem to progress the epic quest. I apologize for the inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience in this matter. Please be informed that due to the enigmatic nature of the epic quests, we will not be able to reveal any information about the quest. This is something that you have to figure out on your own."

Blah blah, file a bug report, ect...

Back when I did Raincaller (at 70), I solo'd the zone just fine (as a serker)... cleared everything, killed the king, then the king again, got the gear, beat on the boss down to 10%, clicked the gear, killed the boss, saved the princess, got the treasure, got the quest update etc.

About a week ago did it mentored to 60, worked the same way.

Haven't tried it at 80 though.

I'd like to hear if anyone has ever been able to complete it grey with only going in, deactivating the shield, and killing the two named.

And fuck, I dont want to have to fight someone mentored the entire way there.
Better find someone with a revers coth tinker item.

I did exactly what you just described at lvl 70. Entire zone was grey. Not only is (or was) it possible but doing it greyed-out is the recommended strat on eq2wiki.

Shit all over norrath has been changed without warning, so it's entirely possible that this strat was ninja-nerfed with lu42 as an intended roadblock. Or its just fucked up...
Like he said : Try petitioning again and leave out any mention of your epic. The GM's have orders to not help players complete them.

I did it around lvl 75 without problem, but it was pre-GU42 (might even have been pre-41)

Meh same thing happening on sk epic now, Archpriest in Neriak bugs and depops then wont spawn. Went there, he raped me solo then i left to get a group, came back he was gone... Group waited maybe 20 min, then i told em to go, camped there 8 hours on my graveyard shift didnt see him once. Many others having same issue...

Gotta love having a quest postponed because of one bitch name.
