Yeh, some degree of randomness needs to be there. And even weird shit like like purple adds vision is fine...
to a degree. But randomness needs to be designed such that player skill can make up for and overcome it.
I can accept wiping once or twice due to a massive string of bad luck and I can accept wiping a dozen times because the raid hasn't perfected the strategy needed to win yet. I cannot stand wiping thirty or forty times and giving up because, no matter how good our reflexes are, no matter what gear we pick, no matter what specs we choose, the only thing that will make a difference is impossible amounts of good luck.
And a lot of the new encounters employ several layers of these bullshit get-lucky-or-die elements
plus the added indignation of random and incurable control effects! Why yes, I love randomly being
unable to do anything at all. That makes my raiding experience
so much more challenging.
