The numbers are too abstract to form any type of generalization. Hell, I know casual guilds/pickup raids that clear last tiers content.

Many raiders also run multiple accounts so the raider numbers could easily be doubled or more.

PvP servers are also a bit harder to calculate. Our guild is capable of killing avatars, but actually getting the fuckers down with PvP is extremely difficult. Also, because we need players to block for PvP and such our guild roster is substantially beefier than a normal hardcore raid-guild on a PvE server.

There are many guilds raiding that haven't got VP access yet. How can they be discounted from the total number of raiders and raid guilds?

I wonder just how many of the population never raid or raid one per week or less compared to those that raid 2 or more at any tier? It might be be a more even percentage than you are trying to demonstrate.

wow... Of course your hardcore pop looks so small when you don't record half of it while some servers waiting ages for a killable avatar.

It's not to prove hardcore raiders are a minority, it's to actually get some sort of guess at just what percent of people are raiders. Because the data isn't totally accurate, with a lot of guesswork involved, I'd say 3-6% is a good guess, though almost every high level I've talked to has gone on at LEAST one or two pickup raids or something of that nature.
